It's sad that she had to learn her lesson as late as she did. But I'm glad that she did...and I hope that she ultimately makes her peace with the Lord. If/whenever she does, I'm sure HE will find a way for her, cause we all know that HE works in mysterious ways.

As for the law, murder is murder...and we shouldn't make concessions. I do, however, believe that her punishment is a little too harsh though. It may sound a bit controversial, because there are exceptions to where one may need to defend him/herself and ends up taking the life of another, not to mention one's age when the crime is committed, not to mention the circumstances that may go along with the action. I don't wish to even get into a debate about it. I just hope that she gets (or already is) right with the Lord.

Just my $3.57

I agree....I think she should atleast have the opportunity for parole.

that ain't the rule everywhere

there are lots of people
who kill people and get out again.

kids & adults

you also have to consider her defense attorney, the state has unlimited funds where as the average person doesn't so they can't get adequate defense. I wonder if this chick had a state appointed attorney.

Her attorney probably had a state appointed attorney. I'm not really savy with the law or its politics, but what are the odds that she would be able to afford her own attorney at the age she was convicted and sentenced?

This is nothing but bullshat. I read about this a couple of years ago. There is no way she should still be in prison. She killed a sorry piece of shat who deserved death. And now she's paying for ridding society of garbage.

Did she deserve prison? Maybe. Maybe not. If not for anything she may have needed it to be rehabilitated from a life of dysfunction.

This is a classic example of racism/classism, IMO.

By her own admission she deserved prison. There was nothing shown that she contended that her crime was not well thought out. Does she deserve the possibility of parole? Probably. The parole boards in most states do a nice job of keeping the proper people incarcerated in the cases involving capital offenses.

According to my cousin - who is on the parole board for the State of WV, the majority of the kids in this category are caucasion and middle class.

Of course. How many black people are in West Virginia?

I believe her admission was that she deserved to be "punished". I don't recall her saying "prison".

I made a mental note of that. No judge with a brain is going to sentence a murderer to serve out a sentence in anything less than prison. That is a given. She was not expecting a spanking or to be put on house arrest.
