Some of it is, but not all of it.

If I was a man that like to bet, I would bet 98% of it is. Another thing, if Carter is telling a lie, why has this President gotten more death threats than any other President in the history of this country?

Basically what former President Carter is saying, White people in this country with the White Superiority complex, find ways to make it real hard for a more than qualified Black person to lead this country. And this is pretty much the same for all professions. Being jealous and envy of others, gets you no where in this world.

Exactly

A good example of this is a movie that demostrate such superiority complex at the highest level is "Finding Forrester", where a young Black man (Jamal Wallace) in high school , who also was great basketball player, wasn't seen capable of achieving high academic standards by his writing professor (Robert Crawford) at one of New York's finest academic elite preparatory schools (Marlor Academy). The professor made the young man do unnecessary things to prove his high level of intelligence even after the young man prove this by out-witting the professor at his own game. William Forrester played by Sean Connery was a Pultizer Prize writer who was the young man's mentor.

Honestly the racism thing doesnt bother me bc hell im from MS and LA but what realllllllly burns me is this entitilement bullshit that white folks have. My ex lives in B.R. (gsu grad) and she works with people straight out the trailer park who feel they are entitled to have more just bc they are white. She told me that she talked with this one lady (white) who felt that her son didnt have to dress up for an interview for Target but he had a high school diploma and that was enough. She felt that giving the job to a blck person who was dressed and with the same diploma would be unfair to her son. That kind of stuff burns me up. They really honestly think that they are entitled to more just bc they are white and they are doing the same with Obama. They dont want to take orders from a black man. Black man is good enough for LSU to win national championships and Super Bowls but not good enough to lead your country. Then they have the nerve to talk about we gonna take back our country. Muthafukka we built this country!!!

(yes i know im very militant but i love my people and will always stand up for us)

I have no doubt that some of this outrage at Obama is based in racism; however, I do not believe anywhere near 98% of it is based on racism. To assume most of the criticism of Obama is based on racism is ridiculous. The man wouldn't be in office if it wasn't for the white vote. Independants suffering from Bush fatigue also help this man get into office. Although I think this is false, most of the right feel this man is a socialist. For the Republican Party, labeling someone as a socialist is a very good way to rally the base. The federal government has giving handouts to corporations in the past, but they have never in history taken over a private company and fired it's CEO as far as I know. Conservatives hate that sh*t simply put. I consider myself a centrist so I can see both sides.

You're letting your humanity blind you my friend and simply over analyzing a simple matter.

To assume that those that voted for him are out there yelling, screaming, calling names and being bigots is a biggggggggg stretch and not even remotely true.

Their are I'm sure a few who are disappointed but to say they are a part these loons isn't even remotely true.

In all honesty, please tell me what does this have to do with whites who voted for Obama? Those independents who are now going the other way aren't out there saying all that racist mess. It is those southern republican conservatives who hate black folks. One thing that makes me mad about conservatives is they tell more lies than anyone. White males have benefited off of more social programs than anyone. White males have benefited from affirmative action more than black folks ever have. Those small title 8 companies with white women as the owners and their husbands as the VP's are AA companies. There are many black businesses who are white owned in the background. They put blacks name on it for serious kick backs and their money is running the company. They hate AA, yet they become rich off of it. White males get more hand outs from the government using kick back programs than any one. That is why they hate when other races get a piece of the pie. There is a fear amgonst white males that Obama i going to give blacks and lations an advantage over them. That is the real problem. keep it real now. I am more than willing to bet that over 90% of the southern republicans don't like Obama because of his skin color.

This is so true. Think of the tax break multinational corporations get. They can be the biggest welfare queens of all.

I am extremely worried by the atmosphere that the Limbaughs, Royal Blues, and Glen Becks are creating. They are energizing fringe elements that feel they would be viewed as heroes by taking a shot at the President. We are witnessing a mass effort by the wealthy to maintain their status at all costs. This has been done throughout the history of this country, but it still seems shocking to actually experience what is taking place.

The sad thing is that far too many of us will not see and understand until it is to late. So is history and the burden of those who know and understand.

Just because someone calls Obama a socialist, a Marxist, a communist, etc doesn't automatically mean they are being racist. Just because a man of color is criticized doesn't mean it is due to to racism. In my opinion, this devalues the true meaning of racism.

Like I said before, there are elements of those who are bigots who will not like Obama no matter what, but the man is not shield from criticism and political attacks. He is a Democrat and a very Left leaning one at that so I am not surprise at the level of animosity towards him from the Right.

I don't think the problem is conservatives calling him a socialist, a Marxist or a communist. The problem comes in with the hatred that is being edged on. There is no way you can live in America and not notice the hatred going on. There are folks who are a mission to spew rasicm in always. White America is mad, and it has nothing to with Obama being a democrat. It is him being a black man. Of course conservatives don't like his views, but most of them hate his color even more.

Part of the problem is something that Roland Martin said when he spoke at SU last week. Obama supporters have become complacent. When Obama got elected, many Obama supporters thought that was it, the end. That was only the end of the beginning. The real fight started when he got inaugurated. Right now the Obama haters are being more vocal and more loud than those that support Obama, and the media is putting this on full display. We need to show those Obama haters that we can be just as loud and just as vocal as they are. Here's a link to some of the stuff Roland said when he was on the yard.

If pretending that your first comment is what this conversation is about and helps you sleep better because you refuse to face reality then that's your choice and clearly debating you about it is pointless so I won't.

I'll just pray that you don't get caught slipping and it takes a cracker barrel beat down to bring you back into reality.

Don't forget the FEAR of who will be inspired by Obama being in office. As of right now we don't know that black kid that was borderline thug and seeing Obama getting elected changed his direction in life.

That's why the outrage over Obama giving a pep talk to kids was so huge (especially in Texas).

It's one thing for Plies or Jason Terry to encourage kids (and probaly lead them down a path to rapping or sports-working for the white man) but Obama is a different story.

I am more than willing to bet that over 90% of the southern republicans don't like Obama because of his skin color.

Well how many of US don't like him? That faction that like how things are with welfare and getting free handouts or having limited competition (ie it's easier to fight for a scholarship at a low performing black school where you are the only one that is collegebound versus a black one where EVERYBODY is fighting for scholarships).

I believe that this is a very good post and I agree. Unfortunately, two things are happening that make posters in this forum feel otherwise. 1) Most posters live in the deep south were the problem is most visible and felt 2) Right wing conservative along with the Fox network is a squeaky wheel, making a lot of noise and getting their punches in over the air waives as well as organizing in public.

Southern Whites overall have issues with the democratic party that was exacerbated when Obama became head of the ticket:

1) Alabama dropped from 19% democratic in 2004 to 10% 2008 for Obama
2) Mississippi dropped from 14% democratic in 2004 to 11% 2008 for Obama
3) Louisiana dropped from 24% democratic in 2004 to 14% 2008 for Obama
4) Arkansas dropped from 36% democratic in 2004 to 30% 2008 for Obama

Note: Georgia Held steady with no change at 23% which is nothing to be proud of. In better terms 77% (close to 8 out of every 10) of Southern whites did not vote for Obama. ***note that Arkansas actually had more Southern White Obama voters than Georgia****
