Before Crit rudely interupted! (BOOK)

For the record, no one who knows and loves the tradition of JSU......blah-blah-blah........yackity-yak-yak........ We recruit and deploy plenty of WW players that we actually want to hear in our marching band. We like arrangements that only occasionally send trumpets above Middle G so that the alto and tenor voicing actually enhances the balance of the chord structure. The real depth of the JSU marching band that we know and love is woven into the sonority, color, and timbre of the arranging and execution.

Even if this statement is true, (Which it is for the VAST majority of it.....:lecture:) JSU drops all of that concept and says "FUGG HISTORY/TRADITION, WE GONNA BE LOUD" come SU-week. :scared:Panic:scared:, confusion and late-night practices (Confirmed to me by Boom members and students on campus..... "Ninja, they had us practicing until MIDNIGHT!!!!").....

I love JSU's band, then, now and more than likely in the future too. Hell, they are the only other program I even bother to listen to in the SWAC. But, lets REALLY be honest..... JSU at the A&M game sounds WAAAAAAAAY different than the band that shows up for the Boom/Box.

not trying to make this an argument but whoever told u this :noidea: flat out lied...SU is NOT the only week we would practice late into the night...hell when i was there it was almost routine, especially when we were learning new drills, that we would be out at practice sometimes past 12 and not only during SU week.

Well, maybe I misconstrued what they was saying. They didnt mention what practice was like any other week, so I made the assumption by the way they said it that is was an unusual thing. It SOUNDED unusual to me, cuz I NEVER practiced outside marching 'til midnight...... A drill only takes like 2hrs per night to lear.......... Nevermind.

I can name drop if you like though.

what ive noticed this year issssss alotta you JSU posters are focused on power...wanna bulk up to be like SU....and evey year b4 the seasons starts yall all say the same thing We deep...and we wayyy louder this year.. ok and??? What does it sound like?? when u have power...you have to be able to control your power and alot of bands try...and can't...this year is starting off like 06 yall started talking toooooo early got a little stronger and thought it was going to be a walk in the park....and look what happened

JSU never needs to play headbussas against Southern again

you can if you want to..lol...but we wouldn't go outside until around 7 or 8 anyway, sometimes 9 depending on how many new tunes we got for the week...and maybe i shouldn't have said it like i did because i know some will try and twist it...we did not practice to or past 12 every night but i would be lying if i said that we never did, cause hell we did lol but SU definitely didn't get any special practice times or privileges other than the normal chants and whatnot :D

the joy of being in a "choclate city".... in Huntsville there is a noise ordinance... You cant play an instrument outside after 10pm.

Man stop the lies.. I know too many people that are credible...Band directors, former section leaders that have said JSU practice longer for SU... That's not a bad thing, it is just fact.... If it's any concession to you, SU does put fort a better effort in the field show "HOUSE" for JSU than any other school... BUT we don't practice any longer for JSU than we would practice for an ASU...

This is something I never liked... I feel like you should try to put each and every band in the ground when it comes to the show in terms of HOUSE...

That's why we get these bS excuses from Alcorn... (They weren’t what everyone was saying they were)...... That's because they only get blazed in the stands and out drilled... SU isn't really trying to take the HOUSE down on the field with these types of bands.... Like I say, that's something I never did care for even when I was there...

But, JSU does practice longer for SU.... Maybe you all STOPPED.... and I could believe that, because it shows.... Sloppy marching, crocket ass lines, book full of rap tunes.....
Oh well

JSUhead ain't telling you the whole truth brah.. the same thing you was told was told to many of us who have talked to former BOOM member who don't on here lying...

Interesting.

Wow....yall had it easier than we did. I agree with you that it don't take long to learn a drill....but that damn Doc would have our arses out there late back in the 80s even after we had done the show many times over in practice. Still can hear him say "Take it Back" LOL. I think he just liked fugging with us sometimes. I know the administration started getting on him way after we were gone about keeping the band in practice late. Don't know how Mr.J does it now.

Let me peep in here and see
if this is another SUcks thread, yelling the name JSU.
Certainly it isn't
Surely they have something else to talk about, by now

Nope I was wrong :shame:

Doc was like that up till like 97 the time he came back after being diagnose with prostate cancer....
He never would say that why he was leaving the field earlier, he would but it off on making sure "we got our lesson"...lol and he came up with this bright idea that crabs over night became much smarter than what crabs used to be so there was no need to stay out on the field like we used to...lol

LOL @ Doc logic. I think the Admin started getting on him to stop being out there. I remember him making a comment to us one time we came down and asked him why the band was done practicing so early. We were trying to catch them outside practicing. Might have been when Big Thunder's son was there in early 2000s. Personally I don't think any band needs to be out there to midnight. Don't know about crabs being smarter though. LOL. That damn Doc.

That's the problem Juke, these dudes you are talking to on here aren't musicians...Most of these younger cats from JSU that's on here are sad ass hell.... All of the real musicians from JSU don't even post on here no more...

The older ones like Taylor_Made and Dacon.. are the musicians I only take serious from JSU on here....And when ever Casey ain't trying to be funny she makes sense sometimes along with Mrs.Sonic...

These other dudes would have been to soft to even have marched with me at the "S".. You can't believe or take these nutts serious Juke..
