Jackson State Football Notes- 2009

I think we will have more productivity from our passing game this year... Last year was really an "orientation" session for Dillon as apparently, he didn't get a lot of opportunities at qb in high school. At least all the info I find on him shows that he played wr, rb, and lb his senior season but was also a qb at various stages. He's really growing in the position (from what I've been told by those who have watched practice this spring and fall). I like his mechanics...especially how he turns his shoulders and his delivery/release point. Whether on the move or setting up in the pocket, his motion stays consistent and his throws are on point. I was surprised at his accuracy and mechanics in the games I saw.

Can't help but respect someone w/ that type talent and willingness to do it all. I pull for him just like I pull for BLee, except when they're playing PV. lol

True respect MB. Also, tell Dillon not to go in the weightroom and get stronger because let some of these people here tell it, a 6'8" 350lb o-lineman is an anomaly benching only 225lbs 22X-------------> :retard: Guess I've been hanging around too many kids over the years who were (are-current) competitive FBS/FCS or something. Hell, I've been hanging around some of these local HS kids who aspire as well. lol

You still on that? :scared:

Tell your boys to get off "that" and I won't quote that in my all inclusive siggy. :swink:

I'm about to call the head fball coach @ Just NW HS (FTW sub) after their current a.m. practice session so we can laugh about this together. :emlaugh: It's almost borderline... WHEW!!!! lol 6'8"-350lbs and can only rep 225 22X?

Yeah, he's not making it to anybody's football league with that. He's gonna have to double that.:shame:

I hope he's a freshman. As a freshman just graduating HS, I can understand that.

I think. *thinks back on this incoming HS SR guy @ Just NW HS who verbal'd for UnivNeb @ DL that I saw rep 225 a grand total of 30+ times; granted his form wasn't there and he did bounce the bar off his chest when he came down but he still threw the bar up 30+ times as I was visiting their <b>basketball only weightroom</b> and getting a tour of the "big N" :swink: *

FYI, he's running 2nd team right now. I can't imagine anyone from JSU giving a damn about anyone from PV, much less a 2nd string lineman. But go on, do your thing.

30 plus times is not a bad total at all for a prospect. He'll be able to shop around on that.

Another day same old shat.
Even a JSU UPDATE thread get's clogged with P. View post by the usual suspects.

FUGG P. VIEW.
I don't care if they play on 6 games this year.
Still ain't our problem so ya'll need to move on and quit crying like byotches.

What does Jackson have to gain from selling the Tickets? ...
It keeps the people you hope to sell single game tickets to happy.

Our AD has forgotten he is selling most of the MSU tickets to JSU fans. Why do you take the chance of pissing off your own fans by sending the tickets back to MSU?

I heard that he sent the extra tickets back because the only way to purchase a MSU ticket was if you bought a JSU Season Ticket.
JSU only had so many weeks to sell our 5,000 before they had to be sent back.
A JSU employee told me this.:upset:

Is it true?:noidea:

this right here confirms for me the you don't know Shat! Get Ready and Robber can tell you that I NEVER ROOT FOR JSU, ain't that right boobies.:smug:.

Get them babey. lol

I'm gonna' run by Norman's campus before I leave the OKC later this week and <b>try</b> to see if I can make a new friend or two and see how they workout and what their workouts are comprised of, weightroom wise. lol I called what's his face's office and no one answered. I know I'm not crazy about the weight lifting thing. :retard:

Oh, I KNOW why the SWAC was manhandled in the playoffs every single year and went o-fer every single time it showed it's ugly head. :read:

And when you talk to the guy at OU, ask him why his players never bench 225 @ 40x at the combine. We expect our guys to lift hard and well. But I ain't gonna get mad ata kid for what was reported after watching him run in 95 degree Mississippi heat.

And I have always believed that the interior line was one of our biggest problem. One of.

Why has this thread turned into a weightliffting discussion! Who cares how much a kid can lift is he is slow as hell....And then lifting 225 lbs 40 times in the SWAC u tell me one o-lineman doing this... its guys in the NFL who cant do this...no better yet u tell me one o-lineman in the SWAC who is a legitimate top pro prospect.....not a free agent pick....

P-88 maybe u need to be on somebody staff since u know all about workout programs and stuff!

and i see the PV/TXSO connection:lol: to skools that no one cares about! :noidea::lol:

We're on the same page. I've said the exact same thing abt PV: o/d-lines should hve strength coupled w/ whatever quickness/speed we could muster.

P88 is silenced. :|

MORE JSU Training Camp news.

No worries as Comegy agent files suit in Alabama........
Jackson State will hold its first football practice of the season today and coach Rick Comegy is expected to be there - even though an arbitration hearing is scheduled for today in Alabama to hear a civil lawsuit filed against the coach

84 of 89 Tigers report on time.
Eighty-four of Jackson State's expected 89 players reported for duty Tuesday to kick off the 2009 football preseason. The five absences were no reason to panic as coaches had excused the players and knew they wouldn't be arriving on time

Comegy seeking toughness.
Optimism hung thicker than imagined smoke in the hallways of Stewart Hall on Tuesday. Two false fire alarms and the subsequent evacuations couldn't even dampen spirits.

Eighty-four Jackson State football players reported to preseason camp in the morning of what is routinely one of the most positive days of the year. There are no losses to cause stress. Two-a-day practices have yet to begin. Dreams of championships are still alive.

Players it is this time of year again baby.

GR will be so glad when that loser school called PV finally does something so they can stop bragging about small wins. When you have been down trotten so long, winning against the SWAC powerhouse is something you can brag of for years.

PV hasn't beat Grambling State.

JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

....This kid was a good fit for JSU...........Somebody else has told him otherwise....I think it's that ring that State and Ole Miss has formed with the Jucos....When will they learn.....:shame::shame:

JSU player pulls about-face, quits team

By Kareem Copeland • [email protected] • August 14, 2009

In a bizarre twist, Jackson State wide receiver Rico Richardson was absent from practice this morning after apparently leaving the team on Thursday.

The freshman from Natchez High School, who was the subject of a story in today’s Clarion-Ledger that spelled out how well he had played during the first 10 days of preseason camp, left campus after the team moved out of dormitories on Thursday.

Coach Rick Comegy said coaches at a junior college convinced Richardson that it could provide a better opportunity and a chance to play at a Division 1-A program if he came to their school and played for two years. Comegy, who wouldn’t name the junior college, said Richardson and his mom are returning to campus this afternoon to meet with coaches.

Richardson could not be reached for comment.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder had put together one of the best camps on the team so far this preseason. Richardson ranked No. 5 in the state his senior season at Natchez with 891 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He was a second-team all-state selection by the Mississippi Association of Coaches.

On Wednesday, Richardson seemed happy with the progress he had made and his chance of earning early playing time with the Tigers this fall.

“I’m still finding my way, but I’ll get used to it,†Richardson said in an interview conducted Wednesday afternoon. “I’ve got something to prove. Everybody thinks that I’m small and that I can’t start. And because I’m a freshman, I can’t start.

“But I’m gonna prove everybody wrong.â€

That attitude is what most impressed Comegy.

“I’ve never seen such a confident young man,†the coach said. “He’s aware of what he can do — sure.

“He’s a mature kind of freshman.â€

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

We were actually surprised when he showed up at JSU. We recruited him but we were told in the spring that he was going the JUCO route in hopes to land a 1-A offer in two years. Then, to our surprise, he showed up.

If he stays with JSU, he will have to do a lot to convince me that he deserves a Tiger uniform. Coach Hughes would have just told him not to come back.... EVER!! lol One thing about our old coaching guard, Hill, Gordon, Carson and Hughes....if JSU was not in your heart, we didn't want or need you. If you transferred to JSU later, yo azz was third string unless there was a REAL need for your services.

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

One of the things we have to deal with in Mississippi - the strong JUCO lure.
