So What Happens If/When The SCG Ends?

I would like see Grambling enter the D1-AA playoff and start recruiting to be the best D1-AA school in the country.

Suppose - just suppose the last SCG is at the end of this season. And suppose - just suppose the MEAC agrees to deal presented by a certain tv entity to bring back the Heritage Bowl - and that agreement by the MEAC stipulates that their regular season champion has to forgo the playoffs and that automatic bid....and also the SWAC returns to the full 9 game mandate...

What if all of that "supposing" wasn't just for "play-play" - but it might turn to reality in a matter of months....how would you feel about that?

In light of the current ongoing conversation regarding the SCG and what to do with it....I tried to told ya'll this back in Feb.

The MEAC will not leave the playoffs.

You will be hard-pressed to find anyone on the MEAC board that would believe that they would and there's some administrators, coaches completely against it.

And how has that benefitted them? It's my understanding the South Carolina State lost money like all the rest. Did your conference champion lose revenue too? More than likely they did. I hear they're cutting some programs in your conference as well.

With all due respect, no one - and I feel pretty sure in saying this - NO ONE on the MEAC board is in a high ranking decision making position with the MEAC.

Why does it always have to be about money? Let's keep in mind that the MEAC pockets are deeper than the SWAC schools. Let's also keep in mind that the MEAC has competed and won OOC against top FCS competition.

And if you read the rest of the line - you'll note that several ADs, coaches and other administrators are against dropping out of the playoffs...it has been in the press.

And let's just go in more CIRCLES about this subject! It's beating a dead horse. The MEAC is not budging. The SWAC is not budging. The NCAA for the time being is not budging. Enjoy!

the meac would not agree to that, but lets play what if....

IF they did, SCSU, FAMU, and pretty likely Hampton would leave the meac.

In order for this to happen, the President's would have to approve it. Therefore, NONE of those schools would go anywhere.

So those folks on the MEAC board are university athletic directors, presidents or board/regent members who actually make the decisions? Or are they just 9-5 alums who are ticket buyers giving their "opinions"?

There are SWAC coaches/administrators who are completely against going back to the 9 game mandate but here we are again.

Why does it always have to be about money? Ask those schools in your conference who are cutting back programs that same question.
I can't believe you even fixed your fingers to type that question...."why does it always have to do with money?" LOL!!

And in WHAT areas are MEAC schools deeper than SWAC schools since you brought it up? We've competed and defeated several teams in OOC play throughout the years, but does that mean we need to change what we're doing to go along to get along? No.

Why does it always have to be about money?

Are you serious?

Why has tuition tripled in Texas since tuition deregulation?

Why does each and every athletic director sit down with his/her coach every off-season and discuss either ways to do more fundraising in their program or ways to reduce cost?

Why does each and every athletic director sit down with his/her university president/board of regents to discuss how profits or expenses either increased or decreased every board meeting?

Maybe it's the financial analyst in me and the university employee in you.

Hey TT,

Go to ESPN, NBC or Fox Sports and ask to have all Sam Houston athletic programs televised live nationwide (I mean even bowling, soccer, softball and tennis).

Now before they use your body as a devise to create a new window in the wall tell them "Why does it have to be about money?" :retard:

Typical C-Leb blowing my statement out of proportion. C-Leb, trust me...I know how money makes a difference in running an athletic department.

I just did not think the monetary aspect of playing in a Heritage Bowl compared to the playoffs weigh heavily in the minds of those involved, per what we are seeing in the press from the schools who do not want "out" of the playoffs...

And I did not say the MEAC board folks were admins, coaches, and ADs. I stated that we were getting the same response from all those parties, including the MEAC fans.

And you still didn't address the fact that schools in your own conference are having to cut back on programs, yet you're over here stirring in our business.

Why don't you encourage your own conference to get their financial act together, so they won't have to cut anymore schollies and coaching jobs.

What goes around comes around right TT?

Don't like your own medicine do you? How many times have you came here with your little "sassy" replies when someone would still use the I-AA moniker and you'd do your typical "Come on fellas! You are FCS! There's no such thing as I-AA" bullshit. Just want you to taste what you love to dish out.

And don't get me started on the "Texas State University vs Texas State University - San Marcos" debate... :retard:

It is my position from MY sources - and I will place MY sources against your sources anytime - that the 2009 SCG will be the last and in December 2010, the week after the SEC Champ Game in Atlanta, the Heritage Bowl will take place in the GA Dome - between the SWAC Champ and the MEAC Champ...

2nd place teams from either conf will be eligible for at large bids to the playoffs if those teams are deemed worthy....

Oh yea, the money will be at the least of what is paid out by ESPN for their other made for tv bowl games - Papajohns, etc and will be ESPN or ESPN2

You need to go to SH's message board to get a full picture of how his own fellow alums feel about him.

Kats86 is off the chain.

The big difference between the SLC and SWAC is the amount of "Olympic sports" that are fully-funded. Much easier to avoid cutting sports when you are already running most of your sports without full scholarships...

The SLC has a whole is financially in better hands because most of the league resides in Texas and there are all those new athletic fees which only bolster the programs. Perhaps it explains why as many as three schools in the league are often mentioned in the FBS talk...

We also seek results on and off the field. It is not about butts in the seats, but continuing to enhance our league's chances of advancement.

Our RPIs across each sports are on the upward movement. Football, which has gone three years without multiple teams has stepped back some, but the other sports are moving forward.

Two teams into the NCAA postseason this baseball season (thanks to numerous victories over top 25 programs from the bottom of the league to the top) was huge as are the increasing amount of "BCS" basketball victories.

I am no longer an active participant on the SHSU message board. Unfortunately, I want to talk about the positives and negatives. Our fan base is currently interested in only discussing the negatives with 86, who has refused to acknowledge any success by the program, leading the charge.

Okay, C-Leb.

I'll drop that discussion on this board and call SWAC schools - Division II. If you are not interested in referring to your programs as anything, but Division I, I will make sure when I come here, that I am consistent with your message and refer to your schools as Division II. There is a reason there is a name change and if the SWAC and the schools within the SWAC are not interested in recognizing themselves on equal footing and as Div I schools, I'm more than willing to help you achieve that mission.

And don't get me started on the "Texas State University vs Texas State University - San Marcos" debate... :retard:

I am doing my part to not have them called TSU. ;) And protecting schools that fear becoming a "Texas State - ", which is the reason Angelo State is no longer in the TSUS.

If that happens as you say it, I will eat crow until the day I die. That would be a step back for the MEAC. Not sure why they would succumb to that level and the quality of their teams would also falter, since it has been said that a number of their players head that way for a chance to play for a national championship... what does a Heritage Bowl berth mean, especially if the "Black College National Championship" is not certain to be on the line? It just makes no sense, but I guess you can say that in the days following the recently completed SWAC meetings, not much does...

TT you act like MEAC football teams are so much better than the SWAC, the only teams that are competitve in the Meac as of now are SCSU and FAMU out of all those schools in the MEAC! 2 out of 30 schools, i wouldn't call that superior!

I live in FAMU country. Over the last 10 years both BCU and Hampton have been been better than FAMU.

EVERYONE on the (sports & smack) message boards knows we are a Division I conference as well as the distinction between I-A (FBS) and I-AA (FCS) some become lazy in CLEARLY recognizing the distinction between the two but you and your personal crusade to inflict criticism on those who interwine the two is sickning. That's what I'm alluding to about your narcissist ass.

He put it in black & white folks! We got him.

While your at it, explain this from a Sam Houston poster:

Let me tell you.... I sat back and for many years (over 29 of them) kept supporting, supporting, being positive, and everything else about SHSU and Ron Randleman at the helm...during his worst years. Then after over 20 years of up and down and no consistency, he finally gets it figured out and starts doing what SHSU should have been doing all along in the Football hotbed of recruiting in Texas between Dallas and Houston.... WINNING, ESTABLISHING A NATIONALLY CREDIBLE PROGRAM!

Then Ron decides to retire and we let this clown take over and I am sorry if I offend players parents, board members and the almighty Texas Terror who to me based upon his posts represents everything that has kept Sam Houston back in the past.... a person who is fine with the same old, same old... the status quo.... everything is fine and dandy... we don't have any problems.....don't rock the boat..sweep our issues under the rug and don't talk about them... hide our problems and assume the general public is too stupid to recognize them, don't identify them, address them publically and work to correct them.......that el do pig.. that el do!

What a bunch of ABSOLUTE CHICKEN MANURE!

Sorry after 29 years of that my eyes are finally open and I will NOT GO QUITELY INTO THE NIGHT WITHOUT A WORD... and sit back like I did before for over 20 years of mediocrity, trying for another 20 years to ACT LIKE EVERYTHING IS O.K.! IT'S NOT AND THE PERFORMANCE AND RECORD PROVES IT!

From a NATIONAL TOP 10 PROGRAM TO IN 4 SHORT YEARS OF LEADERSHIP A PRESEASON LAST PLACE PREDICTED FINISH IN THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE.....DOES NOT SIT WELL WITH ME AS AN ALUMNUS AND FAN! If it does with you... then I question your real loyalty!

In otherwords, quit worrying about what the hell we are doing in the SWAC when your own alma mater has it's own issues!

I've always said it more to it than what we've been told as to why we're going back to the 9 game format.

The MEAC Commish seems to be interested in this so I am sure he is being proactive about it. The concern I would have is that the revenue from the HB has to be split like 20 ways unless the two conferences are gonna take it all...which wouldn't be a bad idea if they put people in place to market HBCU athletics and academic programs.

All schools have issues, problems, whatever you want to call them...

If any of you on this board can raise your hand to say they do not, you are absolutely fooling yourself. The problem becomes when individuals can not see the positives and only harp on the negatives, hence why I have pulled off of that board.

Throw in the personal attacks by an individual like '86 and there's no reason to stoop to the level of that "bumpkin" (as some of them call each other)...

TexasTerror, what kind of discussions do you think go on in the private forums? All 10 school's alums, students and fans talk in great detail about our own schools "issues, problems, whatever you want to call them..." Hell,90% of us discuss/recognize/acknowlege our issues in public so now what?

This was in reference to the "bumpkin" from the SHSU board that you questioned me about, not as it relates to TSPN. Let's take this subject elsewhere, because we're completely ruining the thread regarding what will happen when the SCG comes to an end...:topic:
