JSU wins 3rd straight Commissioner’s Cup
The Clarion-Ledger • June 1, 2009


Jackson State has earned the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Dr. James Frank Commissioner’s Cup Award for all-sports competition for the third consecutive year, and JSU won the Barbara Jacket/Sadie Magee award for top women’s program for the fourth consecutive year.



On the men’s side, Grambling State claimed the C.D. Henry award with JSU second.

Congrats JSU... No smack, but it's a testament to yall on how you guys quickly overcame the Culverson years.

I don't think Culberson was a bad AD. His downfall was that he had a close friend named James Bell. Outside of that, Culby looked at the bottom line and made good business decisions.
 
I congrat'd a looooooong time ago although the thread turned into a smackfest and other folx thinking I was kissing ass when in factuality I was giving early congrats on a feat well deserved. You have the top program in the SWAC and IMO, that's a lot to be proud of. Congrats to GSU's mens squad for being the top dog in the SWAC. :tup:

We are in a league of our own.
We actually need to change leagues
Its ridiculous for one school to dominate a league like this
You would think ONE school would present some competition
Gram is not in our league
The only reason they won the mens title is cause of their ghetto cousins to the south...that was a real low rent move.
JSU should move on to a better conference or go independent...we have enough of these sorry cups competing against schools that have no dedication.

You only told the truth. Then some folks got upset. But when you said that Bama State was going to run away with the mens basketball title, those same people didnt rush to correct you. Nevermind the fact that the mens basketball title went down to the last day.

There is a huge double standard on this board.

GR says worthless cups but JSU people go crazy over them! JSU people aren't on one accord, last week some were saying Woody was gone and this week now their saying to to hell with the cup! :lmao::lmao: Congrats to the JSU people that care and Congrats to GSU also!
