In this case you can't blame the fans. No one likes Woody(excpt GR), so of course we jumped on it when credible sources said he was gone. The administration pulled the rug from under us with this one.

You're smart enough to know that "credible sources" aint always credible. Next time, read between the lines of what your credible sources are actually saying. (or in this case, what they are not saying)

When something is reported on the TV news, it can usually be taken as credible. And the sources were correct - Woody was fired - for a day at least. Also we thought his contract ended in June, not December as we later learned. Can't blame us for a little euphoria in this case. That probably made all the difference.

Dude, it did have something to do with it. If Woody was well-liked and had a decent record, there would be no talk about him getting canned. If his contract had ended in June '09 instead of December '08, more than likely he would've stayed fired, but due to our tight budget, he has at least one more season.
He's still on the clock and if he doesn't produce this upcoming season, he'll be in even hotter water.
And speaking of fanbase, JSU's fanbase has more input and influence over it's athletic programs than any school in the SWAC.

Does this mean they ain't gonna blame Woody no more? Still wondering what happened to make em change... maybe he put down the big piece of chicken.

You didn't ask me, but I was happy with the pseudo firing. I just think Woody is too stubborn to run the offense the right way. When your best players are your RBs you shoud feature them. To me he is just like Bell. He is gonna make his way work regardless.

Come on mh. I ignored the story until it ran on a local news station. Then the beat writer started reporting it. Naturally folk got excited. Can't blame us.

Woody would be under zero pressure if it wasn't for JSU's fan base because he had valid excuses last year. Freshman RBs and WRs and a young offensive line. But our fan base looked past that and watched the play-calling and it was :scared: :shame: in several games. That's why he is under pressure. I was fine with his announced dismissal. Can't blame us from responding to credible sources. But it is clear he is on thin ice and needs to improve or the hammer will fall.
