Cador told him to bunt - was that the wrong move? He fouled it with two strikes and ruined that chance.
LSU's starting pitcher - give him credit. He struck out 10 of your guys with that curve. Made the SU lineup look like Pedro Cerrano.
Horrible inning........
Youth has to learn to not break under stress and even better not to bend. This is good experience. Trust me. LSU is the stuff this year. We gave them more than they have earned. No need to worry.
We didn't score again... Shucks.
going to bottom of 8th
We need 3 quick outs and those comeback bats...
Peace...
GO 4-3 1out
runner at 3rd
1B RCF (RBI)
SU 2
LSU 10
B8
W (Bases Loaded)
Lack of Post-season experience is showing with this crew. Probably a bit of disappointment settling in...
This is one of Cador's first teams to have only been to post-season one time.
Peace...
I don't think that is it. It is the closers that Cador is using. I understand what he is doing...........He will throw his Ace tomorrow. I don't think he even want to throw the last pitcher into another day....He has a strategy for this regional........
my comments aren't about the pitchers that are being saved... I understand what he is doing. I'm speaking of who is playing.
Peace...
Scoreboard...
SU 2 7 4
LSU 10 14 1
Stories of the game...
- Ross strikes out 10 Jaguars, including 7 in the first three when SU could have added more runs
- Southern's solid defense becomes sloppy defense behind the bullpen, does not help, allows LSU to put the game way out of reach.
- Southern's speed - 5 SBs!
FYI...LSU left 7 on base, Southern 8
I think SU comes through tomorrow with a 'W'. Good luck Jags! Good thing is, more time between games than opposition.
It all starts with the pitchers that are being used..........That is a direct result of where and how the ball is hit by the opposing team and it has an impact on the defense.........In actuality S.U. played a good game........The score isn't indicative.......
Not sure what fielding errors have to do with Pitching, though the theory of what you are saying is true. The reality is defenders also save innings for pitchers (unwritten stats in a lot of cases). Not making the clutch hit, bunt, SF, etc... has nothing to do with the pitching. In fact, it helps string out the time the pitcher gets on the rubber. And the pitchers that came in simply did not execute. Unless you are saying they just can't pitch, and I don't believe that is the case, I was only saying they too are not use to the pressure of post-season play, especially against the cross-town rival and no 3 in the nation LSU.
Bottom-line, more the pitchers lost this baby. They will be better for it. You learn from these types of experience, especially with good coaching and teaching like Cador.
