Lakers Defeat Rockets!!!!!

Dude, the Lakers won by 14, not by one or two points.

The Rockets are who they are, and as far as them not playing that way again, it's not like they played bad. They only average 95 points a game, yet scored 94, so in actuality, they played over their head and still got tapped.

The Rockets are who they are, a second-tier NBA team. They're not in the league of the Lakers, plain and simple. Folks tried to tell some this, but they refused to listen.

Once again, frontrunner, you "remove all doubt" when it comes to sports. You're the same cat that says, during football season, Team A destroyed Team B, cuz Team A won by 3...:retard:

Dude 14 ain't that much in basketball. Are you this stu...? Ner'mind.

Like I said...with what Lakers fans and the media would have you to believe about the Lakers....the Rockets should've lost by 20+ with the way they played. That was by far the worst game of the playoffs for the Rox. 14 is not what you're trying to make it, when the Rockets were in it the whole game, until around the time Artest got thrown out.

:smh: @ myself for wasting keystrokes on you.

But remember last October, the final score between SU and j5u only showed us winning by 7 points, but in reality, we destroyed them, LOL!! The game was nowhere as close as the final score indicated.

the lakers would have traded radmonivic for some chicken wings and a grape drink. they were just trying to dump salary to get ready for a new contract for odom or whomever.

jr

I disagree with you. you have been listening to the media and you believe that denver is on the lakers level. denver has no one that can check kobe and they don't have a big man that can stop gasol from playing his complete game like yao does. kmart is no offensive threat and you sure can't count on nene to score.

billups falls right into the lakers hand. he is not one of those quick tonyparker/chrispaul/brooks/d williams point guards that we stay in front of. shannon brown is big enough to keep him under 20 a game. that jr smith character off the bench won't work against the lakers.

I would much rather face denver than houston new orleans san antonio or portland. don't buy into the denver hype cause that's all it is.

Excellent analysis.

I.

I know sometimes my memory ain't too good, but didn't Billups win the NBA Finals MVP against the Lakers in 2004? And you would rather play against him when he is the sole reason the Nuggets are a No. 2 seed. I think GR needs to get a new TV.

but td

can't we say the same thing about the 07 game u guys said you should have won? didn't you guys score a td in the 4th when you were down 2 tds and we were in prevent mode?

wasn't it a 7 point game in the 4th and you guys were punting to us when the refs saw fit to call a holding penalty on a defensive linemen to give u the ball back and you went on to score? so don't act like you were blowing us out and we score 2 garbage tds at the end to make the score look good. we know that game was your whole season and was the only good thing to happen to su, but you aint got to lie to kick it.

btw....are you still a celtic fañ or have you jumped off that bandwagoñ quicker than you jumped on?

don't worry....be like these new found rocket fans....they are doing just like you did last year.

Kendrick, Billups surrounding cast in Detroit was much better than the no-defense-playing surrounding cast he's currently playing with.
Carmello runs from defense and K. Martin is all mouth.

GR's analysis of Denver was right on point. You may want to re-read it.

Wow, boy you hang on GR's words like it is the gospel. Too bad it is off a tad.

I am glad the NBA keep playoff stats to refute the obvious homerisms you two guys recite.

The Nuggets have averaged 109 points a game and only given up 88 a game so far in the playoffs.

The Lakers have averaged 105 points a game and given up 97. Now, it looks like the Nuggets play better defense than the Lakers do. :noidea:

Let me preface this by saying this Denver talk is really premature as the Lakers are in a dogfight with the Rockets. But since Denver has been introduced into the conversation I will say this. Of all the Western Conference teams to make the playoffs they are the one team aside from Utah that I don't mind seeing the Lakers play. The Lakers own Denver and Denver is not a good defensive team. They're trying to be but they aren't. The big problem for Denver, aside from Kobe who is a matchup problem for every team, is the Gasol-Bynum tandem. They are just too big for Nene and sorry arse Kenyon Martin.

The Lakers don't play any defense either. During the regular season Los Angeles gave up 99 points a game. The Nuggets 100. Denver has actually gotten better by a lot giving up 12 less points a game compared to 2 less points a game for the Lakers.

Oh, Bynum has not had a very consistent postseason at all. Nene and Martin are solid defensive players. Not as long as Gasol, but athletic enough to disrupt him on the block.

Gramfan, you're correct. Oftentimes, it's not what your records look like, but it's more about team matchups. Denver matched up well with the Hornets and they also matchup well with the Mavericks.

Denver is not by nature a physical team and they're not a better overall defensive team than the Lakers and they don't matchup well with the Lakers.

The Lakers are in a dogfight right now, but if/when they get to the next round, their matchup with the Nuggets will be, in my opinion, a tad bit easier.

P.S. The Lakers all-time playoff record against the Nuggets is 13-2.
This season, the Lakers are 3-1 against the Nuggets, averaging 108 points in the three wins while giving up an average of 96 points.

11-01-2008 at Denver Nuggets W 104-97
11-21-2008 vs. Denver Nuggets W 104-90
02-27-2009 at Denver Nuggets L 79-90
04-09-2009 vs. Denver Nuggets W 116-102

I hate to say this, but the Rockets need McGrady.

You ain't lyin'. McGrady is as soft as they come, but he can at least put the ball in the basket. You have to account for him when he's on the floor. He'd also open things up for Artest and Yao.

Houston is only as good as its guard play. And last night the guards SUCKED. I see why Aldeman sent Wafer to the showers early in game 2. The kid is reckless as hell.

The Rockets looked uninterested last night. The fans should've booed those dudes off the floor after that performance.

The Nuggets scored 97, 90, 90 and 102 points in their games against the Lakers this season. The Lakers scored 104, 104, 79 and 116 points in their games against the Nuggets. Aside from the one game when the Lakers shot 29% from the field and couldnt hit the side of a barn we see the difference in team defense.

Besides that one very bad game where the Lakers almost set a franchise record for lowest shooting percentage in a regualr season game, the Lakers' offense averaged 108 ppg against Denver this season. Their regular season average was 106 ppg. That's 2 points over their average.

The Nuggets, even including the game they won (90-79) averaged 94 ppg against the Lakers this season. Their regular season average was 104 ppg. That means they scored 10 point less than their season average against the Lakers defense.

Also, Bynum did not play in the Lakers lone loss to the Nuggets. He was there for the other three. As JayRob has said it's all about matchups. That's where the problem lies for Denver. The Lakers definitely have the edge if they get past Houston.

Well, you can talk about regular season numbers and how it relates to an upcoming series. But in the playoffs it does not really matter that much because personnel changes and roles changes and in some cases, performances fluxuate from series to series.

Aside from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Denver Nuggets have been the most impressive team in the playoffs so far. You can't underestimate how seamless Chauncey Billups had fit in after being traded from Detroit.

He has been through the playoff wars and won a championship. That cat his a great point guard.

Carmelo Anthony has gotten better because he does not have to carry the load every single game. Nene has been great along with Martin on the defensive end. If the Lakers get past the Rockets and meet up with Denver in the Western Conference Finals, it should go to the limit.

Look, nobody is going to stop Kobe, Carmelo or Billups. Those are stars. You don't stop stars in the postseason. The key will come down to the performance of role players.

You're the one that brought up regular season stats in the first place. I was just using them to illustrate the fact that the Lakers play better defense than they do when the two teams play.

Now this stuff about Chauncey Billups. I like him. Always have. I liked him when he was a Colorado Buffalo. But you're using the word great to describe him and that's rather ridiculous. He's a very good player but let's not start mentioning his name amongst scorers like Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony and this can't be stopped stuff. That's asinine.

Yes, he's made Denver better but that's because he isn't Allen Iverson. I dont know which dumbarse in Denver thought bringing Allen Iverson there would make Denver a contender. There weren't enough basketballs to go around for him and Carmelo Anthony's gunning arse.

.

I am not saying Billups is an all-time great point guard. But over the last six years he has been one of the great point guards in the NBA. It is very hard to say otherwise, considering his postseason resume. Billups has put up some fantastic numbers this postseason alone. He schooled Chris Paul in the first-round and is having his way with Jason Kidd.

I mean, the Nuggets have tried to rely on cats like Earl Boykins and Allen Iverson in hopes of getting them over the hump in the postseason. Denver finally acquires a real point guard in Chauncey Billups, and they are on the cusp of reaching the Western Conference Finals. I don't believe this run is a result of happenstance.

Ya'll got us in 07, we got ya'll in 08. Simple as that.

As far as bandwagoning, for the umpteenth time, there is no bandwagoning here. I've been a Celtic fan ever since the Bird days. They're down to Orlando now, but I'm still rooting for them to win. It's all moot since Cleveland will beat either of them anyway. Just keeping it real.

As far as lying to kick it, talk to your boy Jayrob. I caught him in a lie recently saying that Kobe had been to SIX NBA finals, and someone else in another thread caught him in another lie.

I hope the celtics win. even without garnett they will give cleveland a better series. the magic are going to lay down just like these other clowns have

That's why they are winning so much because folks lay down for them. That's why I hate Cleveland and I hate Lebron. I think the Magic will give the Cavs a run for their money but if not atleast they will win one game.

I don't think teams are laying down for Cleveland. The Cavs are just better than everybody in the Eastern Conference. Detroit had underachieved the whole season and finished below .500.

There was no way the Pistons were going to beat the Cavs. The Hawks are an up and coming team, but just don't play consistent enough to beat Cleveland.

LeBron is the best player in the NBA right now, and the Cavs are winning because he makes his teammates better. Not to mention that guy has limitless talents. Orlando or Boston will provide them a better series in the Eastern Conference Finals, but in the end those teams don't have LeBron James.

Both teams can play better then how they played but I hate the Cavs and Lebron but it seems that they will get a ring this year. The Lakers are to inconsistent for me. I hope they get out of this series.

That might be a blessing. Yao Ming is totally overrated. Big 7' mofo only averaging 17 points a game in the playoffs.

There is no way the Rockets losing Yao is a blessing. Maybe for the Lakers, but not Houston. Granted the Rockets were able to win Game 4 without Yao, but I do not see them advancing past the Lakers without Yao and McGrady.

Teams don't win the playoffs without stars. Those cats are very important pieces to the Houston puzzle. Oh, and the reason why Yao is averaging 17 points a game is because Wafer and Brooks and Landry think they are NBA All-Stars. While those guards have been productive, they sometimes forget that Yao is on the floor.
