1985 Imagination song too fast for "Dancing Dolls!

Re: 1985 "Imagination" too fast for "Dancing Dolls!

Too Fast? That is how the song was supposed to be played. Now if the Dolls couldn't keep up............

Seriously, I loved our version. But I did like the JSU arrangement back then as well.

Now if you want to find something interesting. Find the video of us blowing After All by Al Jarreau and the response from JSU in the Fifth Qtr in Fall 85.:D

but that intro to southern's...sheesh

That intro was nice. Doc used to go down the line with us trumpets on that intro to make sure we were bringing it. LOL.

Our then Assist BD Eric Baskin arranged that cut. He was our Al Jarreau arranger. LOL

I remember playing his version of "Murphy's Law".. talk about dynamic... I loved his style of arranging... He never truied to over complicate isht.. and his voicing was right on point..

As a trumpet player. I loved his arrangements. I guess since Eric was a trumpet player and had marched in the Juke in the 70s. He understood how to arrange for us.

Roy's stuff was more funky.....but he catered to the Baritones more than the trumpets.

Eric was always looking out for us fellow trumpet players with his arrangements. :D

Now he did set the Baritones out with that Sweet Love arrangement in 86. That isht still gives me goose bumps when I hear it.

That clip sounded just how it's supposed to sound.... :D

From having marched in the Boom, I say the tempo is a little too fast, but that what's I say about virtually everything the S' played (back then)....

But that's their STYLE, that's WHAT they do, that's HOW they do it.. And they SOUND GOOD doing it....
