Memphis IS in Trouble!!

Memphis simply got outplayed and out coached. purplerush, shame on you being from Memphis and going against the boys. LOL!

How come when a team loses the easy answer is because they got out coached? Hell, Missouri was just better tonight.

Not only were they better tonight but- Calipari's up-tempo system has a problem with Mike Anderson's up-tempo system allah '40 minutes of hell.'......... Question: When was the last time Memphis lost in Conference USA? If you said 3 years ago to a UAB team coached by none other than..........Mike Anderson, you are correct.

Mike Anderson is simply an EXCELLENT coach. This guy is gonna put together a very competitive team no matter where he is. Kentucky would be wise to take a long, hard look at Anderson. They won't think twice about him, tho. Tubby might be the last one of us to get a shot there.

This man could not beat Illinois three straight years, but beats Memphis? Seriously, I think Kentucky still wants Billy from Florida.

If Mike Anderson is smart he will stay right there at Missouri and not entertain Kentucky. He coaches in the Big 12 who has a better basketball conference than the SEC does. Kentucky folks are unrealistic.........they expect Final Fours and National Titles on a regular. Not realizing that with this one and done with the Freshmen kids.....it is hard to be consistently in the top 5 yearly. Even for the storied programs. UCLA finally fell off this year.....I expect UNC to take a big hit next year even though they got a ton on McDonald All-Americans coming next season....but they will all be green.

If Mike can get Missouri to the Final Four.....he will get some serious recruits lined up. Missouri used to be a pretty good program years ago. You would think they could recruit St. Louis, Chicago and other Midwest kids easily.

Exactly! With the way things are going for Mizzou now, he has probably earned himself at least 3 to 4 more solid years right where he is. As long as he can avoid player scandals. He is in good shape. He don't need to go no where!

Mark my words.... if Anthony Grant turns down Alabama today (from reports they offered 2.3 million) then Anderson will be at Alabama next year. Anderson has already stated he is interested in the Alabama job. He is #2 on Bama's coaching radar behind Anthony Grant from VCU.

Uh go back and read what I said. My words exactly were
outplayed and outcoached

In Memphis, all of us said that was the game the concerned us the most. Mizzou's head coach had our number at UAB and we knew if we could get past them, we would be alright. It's all good...

this explains it all...

I think you are right about that. I look for Kentucky to go after Xavier's Sean Miller.

Regards.

This may have been one of the silliest statement I've ever seen you make. Illinois has nothing to do with March 26, 2009. Illinois style of play may be a better match up than Memphis, hence he was the last CUSA coach to beat them.

If I was Mike, I wouldn't touch the Alabama job either. He has a better chance of winning at Missouri than Alabama. The ACC still for the most part has the South on lock as far as Basketball talent plus they can get National talent. The Ms kids aint rolling over to Bama like they used to(McKey, Hollywood Robinson, McDyess, Mo Williams..etc.) Then the Bama talent seems to be split up across the schools over there.

At Missouri he can persuade an Ohio, Illinois or other Midwest kid to come there and even get some East coast kid to show up along with whatever kid from the South he can get. I think he has 3 or so kids from the South on this team. But a bunch of KC players. The Big 12 has become a better basketball conference than they are football. Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas all have ranked consistently over the last 5-10 years.

The SEC still has a hard time getting those National name kids to show up at those programs unless you are Florida and of course Kentucky when they have the right coach. Outside of them schools maybe LSU for some reason seems to get outside of the state talent.

But hey if he goes to Bama I would not be shocked. I guess he would be more comfortable there than Missouri. He has less competition for talent in that region than he would at Bama. Outside of Kansas....who pretty much goes all over the country for talent. Anderson is set up nice over there. I always thought that job at Missouri was a good one. Quinn Synder messed up because they were cheating. LOL. Hopefully Anderson aint doing nothing wrong over there.

Mike Anderson would put fear in the SEC as coach at Alabama! Not Kentucky!!!

Frat,
I don't doubt that at all. The SEC aint that good in basketball right now......so Mike would probably get in there and start winning pretty quick. Plus he knows Bama and the area. He would be an instant winner there.

Donovan at Florida and the coach at LSU would be his chief competition right away.

He probably could win at Kentucky.......he would have unlimited resources and those folks are more basketball crazed there....plus Kentucky is a storied program. So he could put fear into the SEC at Kentucky as well. Probably more so than at Alabama, because he would be able to lure a big time National recruit there that is not from the region. Now his downfall would be is that those folks at Kentucky expect Final Four and National Championships. Just getting to the tourney and the Sweet Sixteen aint good enough. He would not have that pressure at Alabama or even Georgia if they take a look at him. Saban has all the National Championship expectation pressure for all of the Bama coaches combined. LOL. That football job is the pressure cooker.....same as Kentucky's basketball job.

I've heard Anderson's name come up for Alabama, and possibly Georgia, but not Kentucky. IMO, he's better off staying at Missouri. At Bama or Georgia, he's a basketball coach at what will ALWAYS be a football school. At Missouri, the basketball team, at least until recently, totally overshadows the football program. Stay in the stronger basketball conference, get yourself a HUGE pay raise, and keep up the good work, Mr. Anderson. No need to go live in Coach Shula's shadow at 'Bama.

Calipari isn't gonna win a National Championship until he starts recruiting kids that can SHOOT, instead of just going after kids that can run fast and jump high.

Memphis simply got outplayed and out coached. .....

I saw very little of the game but understand that this is the way that it went. My bracket is suffering.

If I am Mike Anderson, I would take the Alabama job over Kentucky. I would not say that because he is a Birmingham guy, but Kentucky basketball is like being in a fishbowl for a coach and player. Look at what happened to Tubby Smith.

Yes, there will be more expectations to win at Kentucky than at Alabama. However, they are expectations to win in Tuscaloosa. Look their records under C.M. Newton and Wimp Sanderson and how the fan base reacted to Mark Gottfried.

That's why I pick those BAMA's(no pun intended) to win over MIZZOU. In the last game they were shooting lights out, driving to the hoop like Parker and Kobe. Missouri in the last game struggled. Memphis could not handle the pressure last night oh well. I fugged up my own bracket picking those BAMAS :upset:

As for Mike Anderson.. I would stay at Missouri. He beat Memphis twice. He can go into Memphis now and recruit. I would not go to Kentucky. Just like frat said, the fans are unrealistic and they don't realize the game is different than it was 20 years ago.

Man the Razorback fans are sick! :lmao: And if Missouri wins the title it's gonna be a quiet day in Arkansas. Big dummies!

Man talk about outcoached.. They got back in the game and scored 90 points so they had a chance but Missouri couldn't miss. I mean everything they throwed up at the rim went in..LOL

I pull for the home team but I'm not a true blue tiger fan.

Calipari needs to learn how to adjust to the game and switch up his defense. Mizzou didn't slow down memphis as they gave up 90 points but Memphis never figured out or played the right defense. Either they was getting beat in the half court, or fouling after the PG drove pass the defender. I mean Memphis was made to look like the slower team.

Now the guy who says he would go after shooters over athletes is crazy. You can find a shooter but those guys who can jump out the gym has taken him to consecutive sweet 16 and all the way to the title game. I bet you Kentucky would take those kids over all those losing shooters they have and Florida too.

Shoot that how Florida won their titles. They had the most athletic team in the country and he knew how to coach them. Cal doesn't when it counts.

One of the kids in my class, a true Blue UK fan, (I teach in Northern Kentucky for those who you who didn't know) told me today that Donovan is still the choice for a lot of folks, followed by Calipari. This kid is mad that they are talking about getting rid of the current coach, due to the recruits that he has lined up, and he's also mad that nothing offical has been stated. It appears that UK's coach biggest problem is that he doesn't handle the media well. Well, that and losing.

Regards.
