You have got to be fugging kidding me, JR!!!

If THIS is how it's gonna be, I'm ready for the 9 game mandate.

We got messed up because FAMU can't play us in the second year of a 4 year deal because the MEAC has Winston Salem State as an added team to their schedule. So basically FAMU had to not schedule us this year and they definitely were not going to give up playing Miami for their big payday. My problem was that our AD knew FAMU had trouble scheduling us last season because of the MEAC schedule and should have been prepared this year for the inevitable....

So I assume we will play another D-2........we already got Central State on the slate...they replace our game we had with Valley that didn't count. It is amazing to me we can't find home and home with other FCS schools in the region.

JR I don't think we can blame OUR AD for FAMUs and the MEACs ineptitude this time. They signed a contract probably knowing what would happen. I'm glad we got our HOME game 1st.

alot of these FCS schoola are under fire to bring revenue in when you don't play at home now (mostly non-conference)......especially in Louisiana..if a D-1 calls with an offer you got to take it now

As I stated before the 9 game mandated schedule was good for the SWAC. For SWAC teams to find 40 games to play is a difficult task. THe reason is that we have a number of games that are played on certain dates and our AD have to schedule around these dates. After Sep most conferences are into their conference schedule and they are not going to play out of conference teams. Again, I will say that Tenn St has the best deal. FAMU, AAMU, JSU And SU. You cannot put together a better out of conference than Tn St.

Yup I agree, you have 3 of the top HBCU's and then a 4th game that is a short distance away.

Newboy,
Don't you know the rules. No weddings during football season. LOL.

Reminds me of when pops first cousin got married when we played Pine Bluff back in 97(the infamous 3 OT Game). Pops told moms to tell his first cousin congrats!

Anyway, congrats!!

Conceivable that JSU opens up 0-3... there will be some grumblings in Jackson.
Damn...

LOL @MB.......if SU is their 4th game........make that 0-4......I couldn't resist. LOL.

yep!

I read on another board where SU was playing Fort Valley in Baton Rouge.

They just released that today, when I looked for it on the site the other day it was not there and I could not get a confirmation from the athletic dept.

JSU Tigers release 2009 Football Schedule

JSU Office of Athletic Media Relations

JSU will open the 2009 football season on Sept. 5 against Mississippi State

Feb. 15, 2009

JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State Director of Athletics Robert L. Braddy announced the release of the 2009 Jackson State football schedule. The ten game schedule includes a season-opening match-up against the SEC's Mississippi State in Starkville on Sept. 5. The Tigers will then face Tennessee State in the Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis, TN on Sept. 12.

That's what I am hearing. :shame:

Don't worry, the hilite of yall season is on Oct. 3. After visiting Mumford, you won't miss that other game anyway.

This is the last year for that, at least for the next 4 years.....

LOL. A louder and more hostile Mumford. :argue2:

Home field advantage taken away for the all mighty dollar.

They talked about the rumor about playing this year in Jackson, Ms and split the gate. Crazy since yall just expanded your stadium, but that's the rumor.

SMH, this is one of those games you want on campus. More money for your own and isn't Louisiana gonna lose a bunch of tax dollars from this also?

So ummm :retard:.... this "RUMOR".... I thought it was just a "rumor"
You guys are talking,:shame: and :upset: like its actually some TRUTH to it?

I know SU like to come to Jackson... but for 4yrs straight?
You guys need that year inbetween to miss it, right?

Somebody will have to post a credible article b/c I don't believe it... its still a "rumor" to me!

First it was Alabama State taking them to Mobile for 4 years and now Jsu doing the same and bringing them to Mississippi. Thats 1 extra home game per year that will be gone from Baton Rouge. Hopefully they will be able to make up that home date with a OOC school.

Actually, SU owes us a game anyway.....IF we do go back to the 9-game mandate, SU needs to come to Jackson two years in a row like we did for them in 2004 and 2005.

And here it is:

Sept. 12 Tennessee State Memphis, TN

Sept. 26 Open
Oct. 03 Southern :retard: Baton Rouge, LA

Nov. 21 Alcorn State :splat: Jackson, MS
Nov. 28 Open
Dec. 12 SWAC Championship Birmingham, AL

Let me get in on this!!!
GO JSU!!

Aside from not having an 11th game, I like all that is done with this schedule. I think it is smart to make GSU the W.C. Gordon Classic. It's a non-conference game and very fitting. AlaState for HC is perfect. Either UAPB or TxSo had to be High School Day.

One of the problems with scheduling games is that you have 100 1-A teams playing 1-AA teams. It makes no sense and I REALLY wish it would stop!

I know Jackson is SU's favorite road game also (snicker) but all jokes aside... that's an.... interesting decision on SU's part to consider moving their home game to Jackson and splitting the gate :retard: wow... We will surely be running smack on this one. lol.

Really though in the case of those traditional rivalries some consideration has to be given to the idea of having that game at your place over the thought of how much more money you can make... I don't think that's a move i'd make as an AD at Southern. I think it pimps your fans to a certain extent. But ay... I'M ALL FOR IT! :) See you in JACKSON! lol.

That is stupid on their part. Even though this isn't the first time they've moved that game (New Orleans 2000-2004), this one really cuts the cake. I'll await the source though. As long as they sit on the visitor side each year, I'm cool.
