Nah it actually looks like Neuheisel screwed up HIS chances of getting Norton on his staff.

I guess you have not followed this story like I have. Neuheisel went public in saying that he never said that about Norton. Secondly, if Neuheisel wants to keep his job a UCLA, he can't afford to be caught in any scandals like this. It is in his contract. Thirdly, some of the reporters from the local papers are even questioning Norton - saying that Pete Carroll is actually starting the mess and using Norton as the bait.

Believe me, if Neuheisel wants to continue coaching at this level. He has to keep his nose clean.

Sounds like mess from both ends. Even if Neuheisel HAD said it, he would have to deny it.

That could very well be the case. But if you read T.J Simers' column (a down right Kobe hater), he maks a pretty good argument that Pete Carroll maybe behind all of this. USC just had the #1 high school TE in the country change his commitment to UCLA. Pete C. hasn't had to deal with losing recruits to UCLA before Rick N. got there. And there are more SC recruits who say they may change their minds about UCLA.

Trojans are stirring up some trouble

Shit is getting messy in L.A....and I am loving it.

I can't see USC wilding out like this over one TE recruit, especially when they signed the #2 HS TE last year. It'll take the loss of a few more recruits before they consider UCLA an legitimate threat.

Is Ken Norton even DC material?

That's just the point...this is not about just one recruit. There are several recruits in the area that have committed to SC that are now giving UCLA a second look. Here is another recruit (WR) from the L.A. that has made plans to go to SC, but plans on making a visit to UCLA.

Cracks in Flournoy commitment?

basically, looks like a black coach has to be on a BCS staff as a coordinator to get a head gig..

Of course you know that. Aint nothing new. They figure if you aint at the BCS level then you must not be worthy. Hell it is hard for the white boys to move up as well. They like have BCS assistants or either you had to be a head coach somewhere already. You know the game....

LOL. Yeah I am following this as well. I am out here in L.A. for New Years and it is as you say it. What's funny is when I was out here during the Ohio State and USC game.....some USC folks said the hiring of Neuhesial would stir up some things between both schools. Also folks thought Norton would be wanting to go to UCLA as DC at some point. Others say he is happy as a LB coach and may only be waiting to roll with Carroll to the NFL if that happens. Seems like he is content at USC. But this is getting interesting. Makes for great sports drama. LOL.

Man, what da hell you doing out there at the crib? I miss it out there. Can't wait to get out there in April. :)

Uh Soggy, you have met the reason a couple of times on why I am out here. LOL. Your memory is fading.

Props to Walker. I thought he could have gotten a better gig than this. If he can just go .500 for a couple of years(will be tough), he will be a hot candidate for a bigger west coast school. The dude is a proven recruiter, and a great DC........but he is a west coast guy, I don't see his next job anywhere past the SW.

Yeah he is a West Cost guy. His name was coming up as possible DC at LSU but I just couldn't see him leaving to take that. He was also one of 3 finalist for the San Diego State job along with Dennis Francione (hmmmm....there is a name for you) and they ended up given the job to Brady Hoke (from Ball State).

Hoke left for administrative reasons. Him going to SDSU was a lateral move in my opinion. But the Ball State AD and pres are full of drama, and ran him out of town.

I heard the Walker to LSU rumors, and I only saw that as a chance for him to leave UCLA. It seemed like he was ready to leave, plus he was being blamed for the dismal season in Westwood. I am glad he got an HC job, and really thought he should have gotten the UCLA job last year.

Hmmm...the UCLA folks actually wanted Walker to stay. I don't recall them ever having an issue with Walker. But I knew he wasn't getting the HC job. The UCLA folks already had RN in mind (even before Karl Dorrell left).

But I did kinda wonder why left Hoke left for SDSU considering what he had done at Ball State. I didn't know there where drama issues.
