IF GRAMBLING PLAYED RICHMOND or MONTANA?

Grambling hired Broadway to beat other HBCUs, mainly Southern, but Broadway has yet to prove he can defeat schools beyond that.

Let's not get carried away. If this is true then that would mean we fired our previous coach for not beating Southern. And that is not the reason Spears was fired.

Broadway was not hired to beat "other HBCUs". Broadway was hired to win...period.

That is one of the reasons why one just doesn't know. However, I did notice that if B. Lee would have stayed in the game, it looked like Southern was about to route them but then again, you never know until the game is played out.......

Didn't Matthews come in last year for B. Lee and go lights out?

Why are folks attempting to label Dillon as a scrambler? He's a dual threat quarterback...the majority of his rushing attempts are designed plays. What's wrong with that? Hell, he finished second in the entire league in rushing... if that's within his skill set why not use it. Kudos to Spady for seeing it and utilizing it. But it was not like he scrambled all over the place in a helter skelter offense... far from it.

The kid from Richmond was used in the same way, except his were more power oriented running. Why is that good coaching for Richmond, but not for Grambling? Why is that good football for Richmond but not "how we do things in the SWAC?" Yet you guys ridicule the SWAC's (Gram's) ability to play a competitive game with these other schools based on "how the SWAC plays"?

Man, It really is important that Grambling plays some of these FCS schools...yall done gotten an inferiority complex and we need to save yall. Hope it's not too late!

You know I'm not with all the heck I have raised in the past about how the conference is set up as for our goals.
I have posted about this until I just look at it as a joke now because of all the excuses people as a whole give for not trying to compete against the best.

BOTTOM LINE IS:
NOBODY IN THIS CONFERENCE HAS A REASON TO GET ANY BETTER UNDER THE CURRENT MODEL.
All you have to do is win the games in your division and your season is complete.
You don't have to worry about the Montana's, Appy State's or Richmonds of the world cause WE DON'T COMPETE AGAINST THEM.:noidea:

But Grambling should have known that Broadway had a losing record against PWCs prior to hiring him. This should have been a major concern before hiring him.

True... I think we will see a shift in our scheduling. Instead of FBS money games, look for more home and home matchups with our non-conference games. Northwestern is on our schedule next season... expect more non-HBCU's to come in the future. We are scheduling them with expectations of winning... just as SOG stated.

What you are saying is not totally true......with the 7 game mandate, schools are free to schedule whom they please.......

S.U. has ULL in 2009 and McNeese in 2010
Gram has OK. State 2009 and heaven knows who else down the line....
AAMU has Jacksonville State....2009

Yeah we will schedule them but will we try to win. Pete said long ago he was not paid to beat those teams.

Brodway said it at the beginning of the season. He wanted to play HBCU's and win.

Our coaches will lose these games and prepare for the SWAC only. If we win so be it if we lose, oh well we can still win the SWAC and our fans will be happy. At least the ones who pay the bill will be..

And with the end result being able to only compete for a CONFERENCE TITLE, what's the point?
All you have to be is good enough to beat other SWAC school's in your division.

School's like Montana schedule top FCS teams because their end goal is a good seed in the playoff's going for a National Title.

Again.
School's in this conference has no incentive to schedule school's like Montana or any school like them.

Thats a loss... We really need to get away from playing those dumb games... The SWAC play and lose too to many DII schools... I prey that we will play tams like Montana but the truth is we will not...

Bigs you will go back to scheduling those FBS schools when you lose to those FCS schools. Your budget can't handle too many home games with these teams. They aint coming to your campus. So you will run to theirs and they will make money hand over foot to beat you. Then send 500 fans to beat you at home.

Broadway aint trying to win those games.

If Grambling is happy with beating only HBCUs, then I'm happy for them. I hope Southern can think beyond that with the selection of its next coach and then we definitely wouldn't have to worry about Grambling beating us again. It would be like recent years, a given for Southern.

What we need to do is try to schedule teams in the FCS within a good traveling distance for both schools. Games with Montana aint good for either on travel. There are enough FCS programs in the South that we can play to increase our OOC strength of schedule.

Our Ad's need to put in the contracts of these coaches that they have to win OCC games. Put incentives in there. We play four now so most teams will try to add a SWAC game of a weak DII for two of them. Then go hard on two. So at best if you lose two you can still go 9-2.

But Grambling should have known that Broadway had a losing record against PWCs prior to hiring him. This should have been a major concern before hiring him.

No disrespect...but what the hell are you talking about? What does Broadway's record against PWCs have to do with anything.

That is where you are wrong. Under the current model all teams in the SWAC can play just about anybody they want to. Each team has 4 open dates during the year. Believe me, there are teams in other conterences that would love to play SWAC teams year in and year out...including the the Richmonds and Montanas of the world. The reason your school doesn't compete against them because it chooses not to do so.

What the hell are you talking about? Because winning games period should be your major concern. Like you said, Grambling hired Broadway to win period and if you didn't consider looking at the fact that he couldn't win certain games, then shame on you, because that goes against what your originally stated.

WTF are you talking about? :retard:
What talent can Broadway bring at NCCU? He has a greater chance at beating non conference opponents on the FCS level now.

I guess you are too damn blind to see that Grambling is not winning OOC games.:retard:

Not blind dumbass. We have better staff with a different approach to each game every week. Therefore, I feel confident that we can compete outside of this conference or other HBCUs.

Now that BC comment you made was on some BS. If my memory serve me correctly, SU fired more coaches for not winning the BC before Pete came in.

He's too busy looking at "the other side". I guess it looks greener to him. Some things you just have to ignore.

Then prove it dumbass. You can't say sh@t until you prove it.

I believe I did say in recent years for the BC. Mofos read what they want to read.

Again.
What's the point if the best you can do is go to Birmingham?
THAT IS ALL JSU AND 4 OTHER'S CAN HOPE FOR.
Everybody else get's a trip home.
Our regular season ends the weekend the playoff bid's go out and we know there is absoutely NO CHANCE of us ever going with the present model the SWAC follows.

The CURRENT SWAC MODEL don't help anyone except Gram, SU, and Bamma State.
Throw UAPB and Texas Southern into that starting next year.

What would JSU get out of scheduling these school's as it stand now.
A good seed in the playoff's if we beat them.
We can go 11-0 and all JSU can do is sit back and wait 2 more week's to play the conference championship game.
THAT'S IT.

I know people want to think that all it takes for YEAR 2000 RECRUIT'S to come to your school IS WINNING THE SWAC, but these kids are looking at the bigger picture and winning the SWAC ain't even on their minds.
A National Championship.

But hey.
Enough from me
.:D
We all know we will be having this exact same conversation with the exact same excuses 2,3 year's from now.

I would have to say no, we have to start playing these schools to even have a clue to see what would happen, its time to come out of our BCF shell and join the rest of the college football world. Obama said it best its time for a change.

Look man...you can say what you want about Pete, Bway, or any other SWAC coach. But I know better. Nobody hires based on what a coach has done against PWCs. And if you REALLY believe this...I mean REALLY believe this, then you've got issues. What if you are hiring someone who was a previous OC or DC? Are you going to hold him to that same standard.

JR...JROCK, come get your boy. He is a loose cannon.
