I'm hearing the head coach will be fired Monday. :smh:

I heard the same thing.. I also heard the reason why this is going on. For those of you that want to get the big head and think this happening because Alcorn lost to your team (JSU, Bama State, TxSU), you are mistaken.

Then, what's the real reason? To fire an entire coaching staff and the head coach after 1 year either means 1)recruiting violations or playing an elgibile player, or 2)personal baggage that has been uncovered and has affected the team!

Either way, this shat is just sad! :shame: We need a strong Alcorn and Valley to bring some strength back to the east and to an extent, build more credibility toward creating a strong SWAC! As it stands now, we are weaker than a punk in a gay house! :shame:

Well according to news I just heard, (WLBT) ALL of your football staff has been fired except for Coach Jones....

:topic:

I'm not from Jackson or from the south to hear that many stories of segregation but this is what I took from wikipedia (I know it should not be used for research but I found it interesting) about WLBT:

The station was founded on December 19, 1953 as WJBT by Lamar Life Insurance Company. It is Jackson's second-oldest television station, following WJTV (channel 12), which debuted in January 1953. Channel 3 is also Mississippi's third-oldest television station, (WTOK-TV in Meridian went on the air three months earlier). A few weeks after its debut, the station was renamed WLBT - which stands for Lamar Broadcasting Television - because the original call letters sounded similar to WJTV.

Opposition to civil rights

The station attained significant notoriety for its aggressive support of segregation in Mississippi in the 1950s and 1960s. Lamar had close ties to the state's white political and business elite, as well as with segregationist groups, such as the White Citizens' Council and the John Birch Society. It even went as far as to coordinate opposition to civil rights with these groups. It was rumored that the station even displayed segregationist literature in the lobby of its studios in downtown Jackson.

For the most part, the station ignored the Civil Rights movement, cutting out coverage of it from the NBC News feed (largely by pretending that technical problems were the cause of interruptions). It also pre-empted NBC programs that even mildly referred to racial justice or featured African American actors prominently. At the same time, it provided a platform on its local newscasts and public affairs programs for individuals advocating resistance to efforts by the federal government to enable African Americans to vote and gain access to basic amenities such as non-segregated public schools. The station even sold airtime to the Ku Klux Klan. In all truth, WLBT generally did not acknowledge that African Americans even existed, even though African-Americans make up 35 percent of the population in central Mississippi.

WOW!!!! :smh:

:topic: Look at my baby Jermani in your sig C-Leb.

I'm being told that Jones is out. He received his letter at the same the assistant coaches received their's but he wasn't on the yard at that particular time. I'm also being told that the firing was due to unauthorized spending by coach Jones. The only thing that I don't understand is why the President or the University announce the firing of coach Jones.

Yes, all coaches were fired Thanksgiving. Coach Jones will be bought out.

Welcome Coach McNair!

Feel bad for Coach Collins that Jones brought over from UCF. He was a good coach and knew his stuff, just needed support .

As far as Jimmy, all of campus know what up with him, and he ain't changed a thing except bring his mess to Alcorn that he loved at Bama. Too bad for him, but I guess when you mess your life up, fall in the gutter, and don't realize you can get up..you stay in the gutter. He ain't playing football that is for sure! I'm wondering when he faces all those charges back in Bama....he is looking at Federal too...tsk, tsk..shame on him to not wanting to wake up and change his habits/choices/lifestyle.

Oh, and watch it now...don't assume a "few junkies = all junkies" on the team, or ANY team for that matter. EVERY FOOTBALL TEAM at EVERY SCHOOL has some players who do drugs. That is FACT, don't be naive.

Wonder if the REAL reasons will come out...soon enough I'm sure. Definitely, things aren't always what they seem. :shame:

OK I feel bad for Coach E.T. Jones he only had one year and everybody knows u can't win in one year but anywho what possibly makes u think that Steve McNair would be a good coach please tell me? Alcorn needs a good coach with experience in COACHING to change things on the reservation not a FORMER GREAT PLAYER? What qualifies him for the job? I'll wait........................For u guys sake I hope u are looking at more candidates for the job!

Re: All Alcorn assistant coaches have been Fired

WLBT (channel 3) reported last night that all of Alcorn's assistant coaches have been fired. Because this was released on Thanksgiving Day makes me think this has nothing to do with football. What is the real story?

...And you are RIGHT my friend.....It had NOTHING to do with losing and especially to JSU!!! You may find out on Monday.....

I guess the whole story will be out soon. It has to be violations or something because it appears to me Jones did the best he could with what he had. As for Alcorn's next coach, I like Steve McNair, but wouldn't Fred McNair be a better choice. He has been quarterbacks coach at Millsaps for four years and Millsaps Juan Joseph is great and Fred has more coaching experience. Make Steve the offensive coordinator or QB coach, then go out and find a good defensive coordinator and you are set.

Slyvester Crooms is available and is a damn good coach. I suspect he will be hired by LSU as defensive coordinator though.

Well, I never said which Coach McNair for starters, LOL!

Secondly, I know that just because someone played in the league, DOES NOT mean they can coach. Anyone with half a brain knows that.

College football is nothin but a business: at ANY expense, be it student athletes, coaches. That is it at the end of the day.

Obviously this wouldn't have been because of the poor record, given that it was all these coaches FIRST yr at Alcorn. I mean if so, that would be a serious hack job...who the hell else would want to coach there knowing that after one yr your a$$ will be fired?

I am not one to post info unless I have it from a RELIABLE source, which is why I started this thread.

It has just come to my understanding at this immediate point and time, that the Coach McNair speak is currently just that, "speak". I have not heard confirmation of this yet, so I apologize for putting it out there. I did hear it originally from a RELIABLE source, but there has been no confirmation at this time. :noidea:

Alcorn's AD fired the coaching staff without even letting their president know what was going on. My Alcorn peeps told me that the president found out as soon as everyone else did. Alcorn's AD got fired from his last gig for sexual harrasment..so ole boy is a shady mofo. I mean damn....he got hired pretty much the same time as the head coach and is pulling the plug already on the coaching staff. He already fired the head basketball coach. I think he is taking Obama's "Time for Change" campaign slogan a little too seriously. lol

A lie brah...U got the wrong sources....let's just leave it at that....The president did know....

I'm guessing that Fred McNair will be the coach. That means money from Steve and possibly Steve's son as a signee. He might wanna play for Uncle Fred.

That's funny you said that because at the CCC, a Jacksonian (go figure) said he had heard that Fred was supposed to HC next year and I told him that was just a rumor.......

Any head coach that don't know both side of the ball aint no Head coach material, period. Croom knows defense better, look at his MSU teams.,

His defenses were decent because he had a good DC. Croom may know something about Defense, but no enough to be a coordinater for an SEC team.

This is sorta sad news for Alcorn. Jones may have been what they needed. I also hear that the injuns really don't like their AD and he may be on his way out as well. For Earnie to be fired, he must have really f'ed up since the President (whom I hear is STILL not doing well health-wise) pretty much hand picked him. I am afraid that the end result may be some loss of scholarships for Alcorn and for a program trying to find itself, that is not good.

P.S. A McNair may be good to run that program but if I was the AD, I would STILL turn to Billy Joe. Re-thread..yeah, I know but he knows 1-AA football and BCF and can bring some stability to the reservation!

Brave, your big money alcornites have no reason to "lie". Your president is in remission from his cancer treatment (Godspeed to him) and found out after the fact. Besides, Jones should have been fired as soon as he was hired since he "lied" on his resume.

But hey, you'll see monday. Best of luck to you on your search for a new HC.

I agree with TP's analysis of Billy Joe. He would make things real interesting in the SWAC.....he believes in killing a mosquito with a sledgehammer.
