Southern is making a habit of late-game drama.
The Jaguars extended their SWAC winning streak to 13 games Thursday night, rallying for a 9-8 walk-off win over Alabama A&M at Lee-Hines Stadium.
Kameron Byrd delivered the game-winner, ripping a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to cap yet another comeback.
Alabama A&M briefly took control in the top half of the inning when Tarris Murray launched a go-ahead solo homer, giving the Bulldogs an 8-7 edge.
How small ball led to Byrd game-winning hit
Southern, 18-7 in the SWAC, answered immediately.
KJ White Jr. opened the ninth with a single and stole second. Jacoby Radcliffe followed with a bunt single and another stolen base, putting two runners in scoring position. After one out, Byrd came through in the clutch, lining the ball to right field to bring both runners home.

Southern’s speed set the tone all night.
The Jaguars swiped seven bases, including a straight steal of home by Jaylon Lucky during a three-run third inning that gave Southern a 4-2 lead.
Alabama A&M kept pressure on with a four-run fifth inning and added another run in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. Murray paced the Bulldogs with three RBIs, while Zak Rice recorded three hits and drove in two.
Still, Southern found a way—again.
