Following the selection of Karon Prunty in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, a former SWAC star has also heard his name called.
Former Jackson State wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 177th overall pick.
Coleman becomes the fifth player who previously played for Jackson State to be selected in the NFL Draft since 2022.
A four-star prospect in the 2022 high school recruiting class, the St. Louis native committed to Jackson State over offers from the University of Southern California, Oregon, Miami, and Alabama.

In his lone season with the Tigers, Coleman was named SWAC Freshman of the Year after posting 899 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns (all receiving).
Following head coach Deion Sanders’ departure to the University of Colorado, Coleman would bounce around the college ranks, featuring stints with Louisville, Mississippi State, and Missouri.
His best season came as a member of Mississippi State in 2024, recording a team-leading 932 receiving yards on 74 receptions and scoring six touchdowns. He also logged 153 punt return yards on 16 attempts.
