The second annual CIAA Flag Football Championships ended just like the inaugural tournament did, with the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams holding the trophy.
Winston-Salem State claimed the back-to-back conference title after taking down the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos 12-6 in the championship game.
This game was a rematch of last year’s championship game that WSSU won 9-6.

The Lady Rams’ road to a second straight Flag Football Championship included a bye to the semifinal round after finishing with a CIAA-best 8-2 regular season record (5-1 conference record).
They punched their ticket to the championship game by taking down Claflin 13-0, giving them their third straight shutout victory.
Tied with Winston-Salem State with a 5-1 conference record in the regular season, Fayetteville State came into the tournament as the second-seed.
The Lady Broncos’ path to the title game included a pair of shutout wins over Bowie State and Virginia Union, respectively.
WSSU was led by Chakira Generette, scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Leah Bowman sealed the win for her team with an interception.
