The end of the Norfolk State WNIT game versus Loyola-Chicago was interesting.
With less than a second on the clock, Norfolk State’s Da’Brya Clark drained two of three foul shots to tie what was a back-and-forth WNIT matchup.
The game seemed destined for overtime.
But chaos erupted on the inbounds.
Officials whistled a foul on Norfolk State. Loyola Chicago made one foul shot to take the lead.
Coach Jermaine Woods then was hit with two technical fouls while arguing with officials after the first successful foul shot. Loyola Chicago converted on the additional foul shots to extend the lead.

Norfolk State ended up losing 58-54 in a stunning result.
Woods, the first-year Spartans coach, explained what happened.
“I got the ejection I got intentionally,” Woods explained after the game. I wanted to stick up for my kids and make sure they understand always have their back. “I apologize. The game didn’t go our way, but we represented HBCUs across the country very well today.”
