Mickey Joseph will continue to lead the Grambling football program for the foreseeable future.
Thursday afternoon, Grambling announced the school and Joseph agreed to a two-year contract extension that will take the Tigers’ head coach through the 2027 season. The deal also features option years for the 2028 and 2029 seasons.
Joseph, who replaced former NFL head coach Hue Jackson prior to the 2024 season, holds a 12-12 overall record, and 6-10 in SWAC games. Grambling’s 7-5 record in 2025 was their best since 2017, the program’s last SWAC title season and Celebration Bowl appearance.
“This decision reflects our belief in the future of Grambling State football. We are committed to building a program defined by discipline, development, and championships,” Grambling athletic director Trayvean Scott said in a statement released by the university. “Coach Joseph’s leadership continues to move us forward, and we are confident that the foundation being laid today will position us for sustained success in the years ahead.”
“I want to sincerely thank our administration, our players, and Tiger Nation for their continued trust and support,” Joseph added. “It means a great deal to lead this program. We are working every day to build something special for the future, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this university and these young men.”
