After a stellar true freshman campaign for the Kentucky State Thorobreds’ football team, star running back Chad Elzy is on the move to the FCS.
Two weeks after entering the transfer portal, Elzy has signed with Southeastern Louisiana with three years of eligibility remaining.
This signing comes in lieu of offers from Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Bryant University.
Elzy finished the 2025 season with 1,015 all-purpose yards on 137 touches, including 789 rushing yards on 119 attempts, scoring 14 total touchdowns (13 rushing touchdowns).
In the Thorobreds’ win over Edward Waters, the freshman running back recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game, tallying 154 rushing yards on 15 attempts and three touchdowns.
Kentucky State ended the regular season on an eight-game win streak, claiming the most wins the school has had in a season in over 90 years.
In addition, the Thorobreds were one of three teams in the SIAC selected to the Division II Playoffs, marking the first appearance for KSU in its history.
Elzy joins a Southeastern Louisiana team that finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record, being selected to the FCS Playoffs for the first time since 2022.
