Grambling State quarterback C’zavian Teasett is responsive and in good spirits after sustaining an injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Las Vegas HBCU Classic, the school announced Sunday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with C’zavian as he continues to recover,” said Grambling State University President Martin Lemelle Jr. in a statement.

“Moments like these remind us that football is more than a game — it’s a brotherhood rooted in courage, care, and community. C’zavian is a remarkable young man whose strength and resolve reflect the heart of this institution. We are all rallying around him and praying for his full recovery.”

Teasett exited the game against Jackson State in an ambulance in the fourth quarter after taking a hard hit at the end of a 9-yard run to pick up a first down with 1:55 to play. He was initially motionless while down on the field but was seen moving his mouth before being put into an ambulance and taken off the field.

Teasett went 16-for-26 for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed eight times for 15 yards and one TD.

Grambling State Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Trayvean Scott expressed gratitude to the sports medicine staff, team doctors, and emergency response personnel for their swift and professional care.

“Their immediate attention and coordinated efforts exemplify the highest standard of care and compassion for our student-athletes,” said Scott. “C’zavian embodies the spirit and resilience of a true G-Man, and we stand firmly beside him and his family during this time.”
