Norfolk State has finalized a home-and-home series with nationally ranked Ole Miss for the next two seasons.
It marks a significant opportunity for NSU women’s basketball to compete at the highest level and continue to elevate the program’s national profile.
The scheduling agreement, coordinated through the leadership of Norfolk State University’s athletics administration and coaching staff, reflects the program’s ongoing commitment to building a competitive and nationally recognized schedule.
The Spartans will travel to Oxford, Miss., to face the Rebels on Nov. 3, 2025. Ole Miss will visit Echols Hall for the first time the following season. Tip-off times for both games will be announced at a later date.
“This is an exciting moment for our women’s basketball program and the entire Norfolk State community,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Melody Webb said. “Hosting a nationally ranked SEC opponent at Echols Hall speaks volumes about the direction we’re headed and the reputation we’re building. With two nationally ranked programs set to visit over the next two seasons, our fans can look forward to elite-level basketball right here in Norfolk.”
The upcoming matchup will mark the first meeting between the two programs. Norfolk State went 2-1 against SEC opponents last season, earning wins over Missouri and Auburn.
The Rebels’ upcoming visit to Echols Hall represents a historic moment, as they will become the first SEC team to compete on the Spartans’ home court. Ole Miss finished the 2024–25 season ranked No. 17 nationally with a 22–11 record, reaching the Sweet 16.
“Coach McPhee-McCuin has been a champion for the progress and movement of HBCUs,” Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jermaine Woods said. “She and I have a great relationship, and I appreciate her for utilizing her platform to uplift everyone and promote our game. I appreciate her bringing her program to Norfolk, and we look forward to competing.”
