There has been one more addition to DeSean Jackson’s initial Delaware State coaching staff, and it is an addition of note.

Clinton Portis, who ran for over 1000 yards six times in nine NFL seasons, was announced as the Hornets’ running backs’ coach and run game coordinator Wednesday afternoon.

Portis played in the NFL between 2002 and 2010 for the Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders, rushing for 9,923 yards and scoring 80 total touchdowns (rushing and receiving).

Portis ran for 1,508 yards in 2002, earning NFL offensive rookie of the year honors and was named second-team all-pro in 2008 after rushing 1,487 yards and nine touchdowns.

A native of Laurel, Mississippi, Portis was also a member of Miami’s 2001 national championship team.

This will be Portis’ first coaching job, and he joins former NFL players Samie Parker (Kansas City Chiefs) and Eugene Chung (New England Patriots) on Jackson’s staff.
