Jackson State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson has been selected to serve as a member of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee, the organization announced.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve in this role and to represent our conference,” Robinson said. “It’s an honor to serve those who put so much into this game as it continues to grow on the collegiate landscape.”

Robinson will represent the Southwestern Athletic Conference for a four-year term, starting September 1. The NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee annually evaluates the rules needed for the sport of men’s basketball and regularly implements necessary rules adjustments and changes to shape the future of the college game.

About Jackson State Vice-President/Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson

Now in his sixth year at Jackson State University, Vice-President/Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson continues to lead Tiger Athletics to new heights.

Robinson’s motto for Jackson State Athletics is “Building on Tradition, Blazing New Trails,” and he has done just that – and more – in leading the way in the elevation of Tiger Athletics.

A two-time National Athletics Director of the Year (2023 Black Student-Athlete Summit AD of The Year; 2022 Cushman & Wakefield AD of the Year awarded by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Robinson’s leadership helped JSU Athletics win the C.D. Henry Award for the best all-around men’s sports program in the SWAC in 2022-23. In May 2024, he was a recipient of the Roscoe Nance Lifetime Achievement Award by the SWAC Alumni Association.

During his tenure, Robinson has led JSU Athletics to 20 championships, with the men’s basketball team (2021), baseball team (2021), football team (fall 2021 and 2022), and women’s basketball team (2022 and 2024) each going undefeated in conference play.

Robinson currently serves as chair of the SWAC’s Athletics Directors Committee. He is a past president of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association and was the first African-American in the position from 2020 to 2021.
