The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced extending its partnership with the city of Norfolk, Virginia, to host the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments through 2027.
The decision ensures that the Norfolk Scope Arena will continue to be the tournament venue starting from the 2023-24 season.
MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills expressed excitement over continuing the relationship with Norfolk, highlighting the city’s long-standing support for the tournament. “The MEAC Council of Chief Executive Officers and membership are delighted to confirm Norfolk as the host city for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 tournaments,” Stills said. She noted the city’s significant contribution to the success of the events, which will be hosted in Norfolk for the 12th time this year.
Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander welcomed the extension, emphasizing Norfolk’s pride in its role as host and its suitability as a vibrant destination for the tournament. “As the home of MEAC and Norfolk State University, we are uniquely positioned to offer an exceptional experience for alumni, student-athletes, and fans,” Alexander stated.
This year’s tournament will begin Wednesday and run through Saturday.
