A week after announcing his commitment to Ole Miss, former Jackson State wide receiver Shane Hooks has de-committed from the program.
This past season, Hooks was Jackson State’s leading receiver recording 66 catches for 775 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“I want to take this time to thank Coach (Lane) Kiffin, Coach (Derrick) Nix and the entire Ole miss coaching staff for their consideration, he wrote on Twitter. “While this has been a difficult process, I have decided to de commit from Ole Miss and re-open my recruitment.”

Hooks announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal shortly after the Tigers’ 41-34 loss in the Celebration Bowl against North Carolina Central.
He received multiple offers from FBS programs, including Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Old Dominion, and UNLV, before committing to Ole Miss on April 20.
The former All-SWAC selection was the first of many Tigers receivers who entered the transfer portal this offseason, along with Kevin Coleman, Willie Gaines, Quaydarius Davis, Malachi Wideman, and Trevonte Rucker all following suit.
