Morgan Price leads trio of Fisk gymnasts as national championship qualifers

The Fisk Lady Gymdogs ended their inaugural season on a high note at the USAG Nationals hosted by Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.

The team had five girls qualify for the national championship, with three qualifying for the individual finals.

The Lady Gymdogs’ strong performance was evident from the beginning. Morgan Price, who competed as an all-around gymnast, secured a spot in the individual floor finals with a score of 9.85. She also placed in the top 10 in the all-around, scoring 39.125. Price’s highest season score came on the floor exercise with a near-perfect 9.9.

Aliyah Reed-Hammon made an impressive showing on the vault, earning her place in the individual finals. Kiara shined on the bars, and Liberty Mora proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the balance beam, earning her place in the individual finals and placing third with a score of 9.8380.

Zyia Coleman earned her place in the individual floor finals with a score of 9.6, rounding out the Lady Gymdogs’ impressive showing at the national championship.

The Fisk Lady Gymdogs have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in collegiate gymnastics. Despite being a new team, they have quickly become a formidable contender on the national stage.
This season has been filled with firsts, from the team’s first meet to their first national championship appearance, and the Lady Gymdogs have made their mark in the gymnastics world.

The team has shown a dedication to hard work and a passion for the sport that has impressed their coaches, peers, and fans. Their success is a testament to the potential of HBCUs in collegiate gymnastics, and it is an inspiration to gymnasts everywhere.

As the Lady Gymdogs wrap up their inaugural season, they have much to be proud of. Their impressive showing at the USAG Nationals is a fitting end to a season filled with triumphs and accomplishments. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Fisk Lady Gymdogs, and we know that they will continue to be a force in collegiate gymnastics for years to come.
