•   All 10 SWAC teams are in action in head–to-head conference matchups for the only time in 2008.
•   Southern, undefeated in conference play and winners of three straight games, plays host to Texas Southern. Southern is playing its first home conference game after back-to-back SWAC road wins at Alcorn State and at Jackson State. Texas Southern had a three-game winning streak snapped last week and plays its first conference game since a Week 1 loss to Prairie View A&M.
•   Grambling State, the defending Western Division Champs, travel to Alabama A&M. The Tigers are coming off an impressive win in their conference opener vs. Prairie View A&M in the State Fair Classic. Alabama A&M is coming off a non-conference loss vs. Tuskegee in the Circle City Classic.
•  Coming off their first loss of the season, Prairie View A&M returns home to play Alabama State, which is coming off a bye week. The Panthers had a six-game winning streak snapped last week vs Grambling. Alabama State posted its first win of the season over Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 25.
•   The other two contests are Alcorn State at Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State at Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff. All four teams lost their conference openers and are looking to get in the SWAC win column this week.
