HBCU football has added yet another name to an NFL roster as former Virginia State defensive back Will Adams signed with the Washington Commanders.
Adams received minicamp invites from the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons before eventually signing with Washington, according to CBS 6 reporter Sean Robertson
In his final season with Virginia State, Adams was named to the All-CIAA First Team ranking in the top 10 in the conference with 40 solo tackles.

The former Trojan made waves with his showing at the HBCU Combine recording a 4.57 in the 40-yard dash, 10-foot-3 broad jump, 40.5-inch vertical leap and 21 reps in the bench press.
His vertical would have tied for the fourth highest of all players at the NFL Combine and the second highest among defensive backs. In addition, he would have been tied for third for reps on the bench press.
“It would be a dream come true… I’ve always dreamed of being in the NFL.”

Adams will now be one of two active players in the NFL out of Virginia State along with former Trojans running back Trenton Cannon who recently signed with the Tennessee Titans.
