Jackson State, Southern grab top seeds
The bracket has been set for the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament at Lee-Hines Field on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. The top four teams from the Eastern Division along with the top four teams from the Western Division will participate in the five-day event. It is a double-elimination tournament with the exception of the championship game. First round competition begins Wednesday, May 14 with the championship set for Sunday, May 18. The championship game will be televised live on ESPNU at 1:00 p.m.
The first match-up will feature Grambling State (W2) against Mississippi Valley State (E3)at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14. The following game will showcase Alcorn State (E2) vs. Prairie View A&M (W3) at 1:00 p.m.
Jackson State (E1) will face Texas Southern (W4)from the West at 4:00 p.m. and the evening will close with Southern (W1) taking on Alabama State (E4) at 7: 00 p.m.
