Another blue-chip 2021 prospect has HBCUs on his radar in what has been an already productive offseason for black college football programs.

Keon Coleman, a Louisiana 4-star dual-sport athlete, is expected to announce his future college destination and he is reportedly considering three HBCU programs among a group of eight schools.

Coleman, who plays both football and basketball for Opelousas (La.) Catholic School, had initially committed to Kansas before changing his mind in October.

He’s now opened up recruitment to other suitors, including Grambling State, Florida A&M and Jackson State. Coleman also is mulling Virginia Tech, Michigan State, USC, Mississippi and Houston.

At 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, has been rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 40 wide receiver and the 12th best high school athlete in Louisiana.

As a junior, Coleman had 35 receptions for 1,143 yards and 22 touchdowns.

I am happy to hear 4 & 5 * recruits are considering, committing, and signing with an HBCU. I hope this leads to more top student-athletes going to an HBCU. As a proud graduate of an HBCU, I am happy for Deion Sanders and the JSU coaching staff for bringing in a great recruiting class. Some of the greatest players to ever play the game, and are in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame went to an HBCU…Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Deacon Jones, Aneas Williams, Bob Hayes, Mel Blount, Art Shell, John Stallworth & many more.
