hbcufnlogoThe black college sports blogosphere has just expanded with the launch of HBCUFanNation.com.

Conceived and developed by Kenn Rashad of TSPN Sports and Eric Moore of Onnidan’s HBCU Sports, HBCUFanNation.com (HBCUFN) is a growing network of independent blogs and bloggers who are passionate about the jewels that make up Historically Black College and University (HBCU) athletics.

From The Deriso Report to Fans-N-The-Stands to FSUBroncoBlog, HBCUFanNation.com will be the umbrella location for a variety of sports blogs covering a specific school or HBCU sports in general.

Nick DeRiso has brought his blog, The Deriso Report, to the HBCU Fan Nation.

“If you’ve followed HBCU sports for some time, you are familiar with the work of Nick DeRiso from his days as the Grambling beat writer for the Monroe (LA) News Star,” said Rashad. “Nick will be one of the featured contributors and will provide insight on the entire landscape of black college sports.”

As an example of blogs on the HBCUFN, Deriso’s “Ickey situation” provides some insight into Doug Williams’ second staff at Grambling State.

Fans-N-The-Stands, whose motto is “Fanatic Sideline Pontifications”, is a network of independent sports bloggers covering HBCU athletics.

HBCU’s often provide second chances for student-athletes and Kendrick Marshall’s “Tale of Two Jackson State Teammates” looks at contrasting results.

“Fans-N-The_Stands will also serve as a starting point for contributors hoping to become editors of their own HBCUFN blog,” stated Moore. “We’ve found some great writers looking for an outlet for their work and encourage the passionate HBCU Sports blogger to join our network.  Anyone interested can visit the site and click on the “Write for Us” button.”

The addition of FSUBroncoBlog gives HBCUFanNation its first official school athletics blog.  Created and maintained by the athletics communication office at Fayetteville State University, FSUBroncoBlog.com already boasts over 11,000 visits since its inception in August, 2010.

“We are very happy that the Broncos have become our first official school athletics blog,” said Moore.  “FSU and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association have always had a special place in my heart and Adrian Ferguson and Alex Podlogar do a great job of promoting Bronco Athletics.”

“We are looking forward to more announcements as the HBCUFanNation expands,” stated Rashad.
