Norfolk State University quarterback Juwan Carter was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Kennedy Ndukwe was named Defensive Player of the Week honors while North Carolina A&T State’s Malik Johnson received Offensive Lineman of the Week honors. Norfolk State’s Brandon Savage was tabbed Rookie of the Week while Florida A&M punter Chris Faddoul was named Specialist of the Week.

Carter accounted for four touchdowns in Saturday’s win over Delaware State as the sophomore passed for three and ran for a score. The Richmond, Va. native was 22-of-31 for a career-high 318 yards as the Spartans scored their most points since 2005. He finished with 355 yards of total offense after adding 37 yards on the ground.

Savage logged three tackles and his first career interception, which he returned 80 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter versus Delaware State. His pick six stopped a potential DSU scoring drive as the Hornets were on NSU’s 28-yard line prior to the interception.

Johnson led an offensive unit which rushed for 311 yards on the ground as North Carolina A&T State finished with 564 yards of offense in Thursday’s win over SC State. He had four pancake blocks and graded out at 100 percent on pass blocking. He did not allow a sack or tackle for loss.

Faddoul once again had a solid game punting the ball as he averaged 51.5 yards per kick on four punts, with a long boot of 63 yards. He also had two punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Faddoul is currently the nation’s top punter in the FCS ranks with 48.3 yards per punt.
NOTABLE PERFORMERS
Dwayne Brown (OL/Bethune-Cookman)
Graded out at 92 percent as Bethune-Cookman finished with 455 yards of total offense in the win at Savannah State. Brown also had two pancake blocks and committed no penalties.
Kyin Howard (LB/North Carolina A&T State)
Posted seven tackles (six solo) and a tackle for loss in North Carolina A&T State’s first conference win versus SC State.
Chad Hunter (WR/Florida A&M)
Caught seven receptions for 135 yards while also scoring three touchdowns at North Carolina Central.
Wes Jones (OL/Norfolk State)
Jones graded out at 82 percent and had three pancakes as Norfolk State finished with 430 yards of offense versus Delaware State.

Averaged 29 yards per kick return as he tallied 116 total yards on four attempts at Savannah State.

Caught four passes for 63 yards in the win over North Carolina Central.
Akevious Williams (QB/Bethune-Cookman)
Williams connected on a game-high 18-of-25 passing for 177 yards and a score at Savannah State. Williams’ 72 percent pass completion percentage was the highest of his career against a Division I opponent while also rushing for 56 yards and a game-high two touchdowns via the ground.
Tyre Givers-Wilson (LB/Norfolk State)
Notched five tackles and his first career sack versus Delaware State. He also forced a fumble which was returned for a touchdown by a fellow teammate along with breaking up a pass.
