Virginia State head coach Reggie Barlow could be headed to the NFL.

The Sporting News reported Tuesday that Barlow, who just finished his third season at Virginia Union, is expected to join the Oakland Raiders as a receivers coach on Jon Gruden’s staff.

Source tells @sportingnews that Virginia State head coach Reggie Barlow is on @RAIDERS radar to potentially become new wide receivers coach. He played under Jon Gruden with the @TBBuccaneers in 2002 and 2003.

— Alex Marvez (@alexmarvez) January 9, 2018

Barlow and Gruden have a relationship dating back to their time together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Barlow was a wide receiver and Gruden the head coach. Barlow caught six passes and one touchdown while in Tampa Bay.

During his coaching career, Barlow was 49-42 and won a share of three SWAC Eastern Division titles while at Alabama State from 2007 to 2014.

After his contract was not renewed following the 2014 season, Barlow took the Virginia State job, going 19-3 and winning the CIAA championship this past season.
