JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The West Chester Golden Rams proved to be too much for the WSSU Rams on Monday afternoon, and took home the Atlantic Region Championship and trip to Grand Prairie, Texas and the DII College World Series, with a 12-7 win over WSSU.

West Chester jumped on WSSU pitching early and scored two quick runs in the first inning to lead 2-0.

WSSU answered with a double from Brandon Ford, scoring John Garcia and Ivan Acuna singled to center, scoring Ford to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first.

West Chester took the lead back in the third with a sac fly rbi from Nick Bateman.

The Golden Rams of West Chester broke the game open in the fourth with a four run inning to take control, 7-2.

WSSU fought back in the sixth with a solo home run off the bat of Brandon Ford and a three-run blast from Randal Ortiz to cut the lead to 7-6.

The WSSU Rams tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Landon Steiner doubled to left, allowing Ivan Acuna to score.

But a five-run eighth from West Chester proved too much for WSSU as the Golden Rams went out in front, 12-7.

WSSU could not get another run around to score and would fall, 12-7 in the Atlantic Region Final.
