Grambling State releases 2017 football schedule

GRAMBLING, La. — The much awaited 2017 Grambling State University football schedule has been released and is sure to get fans pumped for the season.

To open the 2017 campaign, the G-men will compete in two nonconference games. The Tigers will travel to New Orleans to face Tulane University for a 6 p.m. game on Sept. 2 and host Northwestern State University in Eddie Robinson Stadium on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m.

Grambling will begin Southwestern Athletic Conference action on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. as the team will host Jackson State University for High School Day.

Then, GSU will open a three game road stretch beginning with Mississippi Valley State University (Itta Bena, Miss.) On Sept. 23, continue with Clark Atlanta University on Sept. 30, and close with Prairie View A&M University in the State Fair Classic (Dallas, Texas) on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m.

For 2017 Homecoming, Grambling will host Alcorn State University on Oct. 21 in Robinson Stadium at 2 p.m. The following weekend, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m., the Tigers will host Texas Southern University in the Red River Classic with the location to be disclosed.

Just as the 2016 season, the G-men will close the season on the road. Grambling will travel to face the University of Arkansas — Pine Bluff on Nov. 4 and Alabama State will host the Tigers on Nov. 11.

The last game of the regular season will be against Southern University in the 44th Annual Bayou Classic in New Orleans, La. At 4 p.m.

    Two losses to start the season, but they will not have to travel far and will make some money for the athletic department. I like this out of conference schedule, even with the two probable losses to start the season.

      Grambling will win all the games on their schedule this year. We have a really good team I don’t see us losing to Tulane nor Northwestern. You must not have seen our players especially from last year.
