NORFOLK, Va. – Quinton Forrest and Reggie Baker each scored 13 points as Bethune-Cookman’s season came to end Wednesday with a 95-60 loss to North Carolina Central in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
Dajuan Graf scored 18 points while player of the year Patrick Cole posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists as the Eagles (23-8) advances to Friday’s semifinals.
The Wildcats, who downed Delaware State 69-62 on Tuesday, finish 10-22.
It was an 16-14 game after B-CU’s Brandon Tabb hit a jumper with 13:15 remaining, but the Eagles held the Wildcats to five points in the next eight minutes and built a 44-19 lead. Bethune-Cookman got it back to 50-32 at halftime.
Ulmer Manzie cut it to 50-34 to start the second half, but the Eagles went on an 18-5 to take a 68-41 lead on a Graf lay-up with 13:57 remaining. The Wildcats never got closer than 23 after that.
Seniors Josue Salaam and Diamante Lewis scored nine and seven points, respectively, for the Wildcats. Tabb, the team’s leading scorer, was limited to seven but had a team-high seven rebounds. Manzie, a freshman, had seven points and five rebounds.
