LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University department of athletics elevated Katrina Briscoe to Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services, and Michelle Harper to Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and Student – Athlete Development, announced by Jason Cable, Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services.

Briscoe has spent the past two years with Alcorn as Director of Compliance and Student – Athlete Services. Harper spent the last 16 months as Alcorn’s Coordinator of Student Athlete Services.

“Katrina has done outstanding work on behalf of our student-athletes and coaches. She has become a leader in the area of athletic compliance and I am grateful for her continued contributions to our success,” Cable said.

Briscoe arrived on the Alcorn campus after serving as Compliance Coordinator at Oregon State University since 2013. Before her full-time appointment at OSU, Briscoe was Compliance Coordinator at Savannah State University and served as the game day operations assistant.

“I am incredibly honored and excited for this opportunity,” Briscoe said. “It is a privilege to work alongside such an exceptional group of administrators, coaches and student-athletes.”

Briscoe, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2008 from Johnson C Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She earned a Master of Science in sport management from High Point University in 2010.

Before arriving at Alcorn, Harper worked as an academic coach for the NFL Player Engagement’s 1st and Goal Program. Before her appointment with the NFL’s 1st in Goal Program, she served as an Academic Counselor/Life Skills Coordinator and directed student-athlete development program and first year course at the University of Southern Mississippi.

“Michelle has been a tremendous asset to the office of athletic academic enhancement,” Cable said. “Her knowledge and experience, as well as relationships with coaches and student-athletes has been very beneficial.”

“I am pleased and elated to assume this new role,” said Harper. “I look forward to continuing to serve our student-athletes, coaches and Alcorn State University.”

Harper is a Gulfport, Mississippi native. She earned her Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in Marketing in 2003 and Master of Science, Sport Management in 2008 both from the University of Southern Mississippi.
