NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman quarterback Quentin Williams was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week.  Norfolk State’s Deon King and North Carolina Central’s Darius Spruill were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

North Carolina Central’s Dorrell McClain was named the Rookie of the Week while teammate Carl Jones was selected as the Offensive Lineman of the Week.  Norfolk State’s Cameron Marouf was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Williams (QB, 5-11, 209, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) completed 16-of-19 passes for 257 yards with one touchdown in a 38-14 win over Morgan State. Also, he rushed for 44 yards on 14 carries as he amassed 301 yards of total offense in the victory.

King (LB, 6-1, 230, Sr., Reston, Va.) posted a game-high 17 tackles, with one for a loss, to lead Norfolk State’s defensive efforts in a 20-17 homecoming win over Savannah State.

Spruill (DL, 6-1, 270, r-Jr., Chester, Va.) forced a fumble and recorded five tackles, with 3.0 for a loss of 25 yards, including 3.0 sacks to lead the Eagles to victory over Delaware State.

McClain (RB, 5-10, 190, r-Fr., Cary, N.C.) accounted for a team-high 137 all-purpose yards with 120 yards rushing on 20 attempts and one caught for a 17-yard gain, including one touchdown, in a 43-10 win over North Carolina Central.

Jones (C, 6-2, 285, Jr., Nashville, Tenn.) graded out at 97-percent of his assignments with 11 pancake blocks as the Eagles amassed 331 yards of total offense in a win over Delaware State.

Marouf (K, 5-9, 160, Jr., Woodbridge, Va.) kicked the game-winning 38-yard field goal in overtime to lift Norfolk State to a 20-17 win over Savannah State.  He nailed a 41-yard field goal, with 2:28 left in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 17.  He was also a perfect 2-of-2 on extra points to finish with an eight total points in the win.

Other Top Performances

Dariusz Bladek (BCU) graded out at 92-percent of his blocking assignments and recorded two pancake blocks in the Wildcats’ win over Morgan State.

Akil Blount (FAMU) tallied 12 tackles, six solo, with one for a loss against Hampton.

Devin Bowers (FAMU) recorded 78 yards rushing on 20 carries against Hampton.

Kylil Carter (NCAT) threw the game-winning 17-yard touchdown to seal the Aggies 9-6 victory over South Carolina State.

Marquis Drayton (BCU) returned a pass 30 yards for a touchdown and registered four tackles, two solo, with one breakup in a victory over Morgan State.

John Fleck (HOW) averaged 41.1 yards per punt on eight attempts, including a 67-yarder, with five landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line in a non-conference game against Stony Brook.

Dwayne Garrett (HAM) rushed for 147 yards on 20 attempts, with one touchdown, in a shutout (33-0) victory over Florida A&M.

Miles Grooms (HAM) collected eight tackles, four for losses, with one sack, one breakup and two hurries against Florida A&M.

Uriel Hernandez (BCU) connected on a 23-yard field goal in the second quarter and added five extra point attempts in a win over Morgan State.

Craig Johnson (HOW) recorded nine tackles, five solo, with three for a loss of 16 yards, including one sack against Stony Brook.

Denzel Jones (NCAT) finished with four solo tackles and a critical interception to help secure the Aggies win, 9-6, over South Carolina State.

Gabe Sherrod (DSU) posted seven tackles, three solo, with 2.5 for a loss of 11 yards including one sack, and blocked one kick against N.C. Central.

LaVontis Smith (NCCU) returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown in a 43-10 win over Delaware State.

Logan Westcott (DSU) recorded 13 tackles, seven solo, against North Carolina Central.
