RECEIVER OF THE WEEK
#16 Jordan Garrison, Bowie St.
(Jr, WR – Baltimore, MD)

Garrison had a career afternoon for Bowie State, leading all receivers with 157 yards on four receptions and scored three touchdowns. His longest catch of the day was a 64-yard TD pass in the first quarter vs. Brevard.

QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK
#18 Matthew Goggans, Bowie St.
(Sr, QB – Pine Grove, CA)

For the second straight week, Goggans threw for over 300 yards, this time torching the Brevard defense for 352 yards, completing 19-of-33 passes (one interception) and tied the Bowie State record for TD passes in game with four.

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#5 Stephen Scott, Lincoln (Pa.)
(Jr, RB – Baltimore, MD)

Junior running back Stephen Scott rushed for a career-high 282 total yards, on an amazing 50 carries, finishing with a pair of touchdowns in a 28-17 road win for the Lions against NC Wesleyan. Scott scored both of his touchdowns in the second half rallying the Lions in a come-from-behind victory. His 282 total yards is the most all-purpose yards gained by a Lion along with his 50 carries which is the most all-purpose attempts. This was Scott’s fifth time rushing for over 100 yards in the blue and orange and his first time ever reaching 200 yards or more.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#77 Brandon Burrell, Lincoln (Pa.)
(Jr, OL – Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Junior offensive tackle Brandon Burrell led the Lions blocking attack that helped set several single-game rushing records in their win against NC Wesleyan. The Lions offense scored the most rushing touchdowns (4), had the most carries (63), and most net yards rushing (283) in program history.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#7 Miles Pace, Virginia Union
(Sr, DL – Miami, FL)

DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#26 Travis Scales, Fayetteville St.
(Jr, SS – Southern Pines, NC)

Scales made his presence felt defensively against UNC Pembroke with a game-high 12 tackles. He also had one of the three Broncos’ interceptions.

LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK
#4 Moses White, Shaw
(Sr, LB – Gordan Heights, NY)

Moses White led the Shaw University football team defensively, with 17 tackles, including 10 solo and seven assisted against Wingate. He leads the conference in tackles per game with an average of 14.0.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
#5 Jeff Flores, Elizabeth City St.
(Sr, K – Lancaster,CA)

Flores was 7 for 8 on extra point attempts in ECSU’s 55-0 shutout of Benedict College…. He punted the ball 3 times for 103 yards (avg of 34.3) with a long of 39 yards and one attempt that fell inside the 20. He also amassed 446 kickoff yards for an average of 63.7.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
#9 Hakeem Holland, Virginia Union
(Fr, RB – Baltimore, MD)

Holland became the first VUU freshman to have back-to-back 100+ yard rushing games since Andre Braxton in 1997.

Coach
Mark James, Virginia Union University 

Coach James guided Virginia Union to a 42-7 win over Saint Augustine’s University on September 12 in Raleigh, NC. The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season.
