F Gaati Werema, Prairie View A&M; 6-0, SR; Miami, FL
Werema scored 20 points with 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the Lady Panthers’ 76-53 win over archrival Texas Southern Saturday.

Werema made nine of 16 shots from the field along with a pair of free throws while pulling down a season-high in rebounds in winning weekly honors for the second time this season.

NEWCOMER
G Latara Darrett, Prairie View A&M; 5-10, SO; Chino, CA

Darrett wins the newcomer award for the second straight week and fourth time this season after scoring 22 points with seven rebounds, four assists and six steals in PV’s win over Texas Southern.

Darrett made eight of her 16 shot attempts, including a three-pointer, and was five of six at the free throw line as the Lady Panthers moved to 3-0 in SWAC play.

MEN
PLAYER
G De’Suan Dixon, Jackson State, 6-5, 200; JR; Leland, MS

Dixon scored 16 points with 15 rebounds, two assists and three steals in the Tigers’ 57-46 win at Southern Monday night in J-State’s only game of the week.

Dixon made half of his 16 shot attempts while pulling down a career-high in rebounds in helping the Tigers remain undefeated in SWAC play.

NEWCOMER
G Lance Fuertado, Grambling State; 6-5, 205; JR; Long Island, NY

Fuertado averaged 22.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of games vs. Southern and Alcorn State last week.

Fuertado scored a career-high 26 points with four rebounds in a loss Saturday at Southern. Monday night at Alcorn he scored 19 points, including two free throws with less than a minute to play to send the game to overtime in GSU’s 82-74 come-from-behind win.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
WOMEN

Katrich Williams (G, Alabama A&M) – averaged 26.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals vs. Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley St.

Tanika Jackson (G, Alabama State) – averaged 19.5 points and 13 rebounds vs. Mississippi Valley St. and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Tiffany Kellum (C, Jackson State) – scored 10 points with seven rebounds and three steals vs. Southern

Hannah Kador (G, Southern) – averaged 16.5 points and 4.0 rebounds vs. Grambling and Jackson State

Lenise Stallings (G, Mississippi Valley State) – averaged 15.5 points and 2.0 rebounds vs. Alabama State and Alabama A&M

MEN

Cornelius Hester (G, Alabama A&M) – averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals vs. Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley St.

Chris Duncan (F, Alabama State) – averaged 5.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 9.0 blocks vs. Mississippi Valley State and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Tramayne Moorer (F, Alabama State) – averaged 20.5 points and 6.0 rebounds vs. Mississippi Valley State and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Donald Qualls (G, Grambling State) – averaged 20.0 points with 2.5 steals vs. Southern and Alcorn State

Julius Cheeks (G, Mississippi Valley State) – averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists vs. Alabama State and Alabama A&M

Junior Treasure (F, Texas Southern) – scored 20 points with two steals vs. Prairie View A&M
