ALEXANDRIA, LA – Grambling State’s men and women as well as Jackson State’s men and women advance to the semifinals in the first day of SWAC Tennis Championship action.

The Grambling women defeated Alabama A&M 4-3 in the quarterfinals and moved on to face the # 1 seed from the East, Alcorn State. The Jackson State women edged out Prairie View A&M 4-3 and met with the West’s #1 seed, Southern.

On the men’s side, Grambling cruised past Mississippi Valley State 4-1 and advanced to the semifinals round to take on Alcorn, the #1 seed from the East. Jackson State posted a slim 4-3 victory over Southern and moved on to meet the #1 West seed, Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

All semifinal matches were suspended due to inclement weather on Friday afternoon. Play will resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 19. Championship matches will follow the semifinal round.
