Jay Peck, RB, Alabama State
(5-11, 200, Sr., Columbus, Ohio)

Rushed for 146 yards on 35 carries … also had three receptions for 31 yards … it was his second consecutive 100-yards game this season and his seventh for his career. He currently has 1,509 career rushing yards – second on the SWAC’s active list.

Defensive Player of the Week
Vincent Lands, DE, Southern
(6-1, 250, Sr., Baton Rouge, La.)

Finished with eight tackles (5 solo), to go along with 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Newcomer of the Week
Chris Mitchell, QB, Alabama State
(6-2, 205, Jr., Mobile, Ala.)

Went 16-of-27 for 175 yards with two touchdowns … found WR Fred Ragsdale for the game-winning touchdown on 4th and 10 with 18 seconds remaining in game.

Specialist of the Week
Jaymar Johnson, KR/WR, Jackson State
(6-1, 180, Sr., Gary Ind.)

Tallied 117 yards and a touchdown on two punt returns … also caught three passes for 67 yards and a touchdown … his 75-yard punt return with 3:14 remaining in the first quarter was registered as the number one play on ESPN’s Top Ten Plays for Thursday night / Friday morning … has 1,609 all-purpose yards for his career – 8th on the SWAC active list.

Ulysses Banks, Alabama A&M – 11 car, 103 yds, TD; 70-yard TD reception
Zach East, Prairie View A&M – 15 (11 solo), sack, 2 TFL
Lester Mosley, Alcorn State – 12 tackles (6 solo), 1.5 TFL
Mike Boyd, Texas Southern – 11 tackles (6 solo), 5 TFL
Gary Hicks, Prairie View A&M – 10 tackles (8 solo), 2 TFL
Rechard Jonson, Alabama State – 9 tackles (5 solo), 2 TFL
Glenn Bell, Southern – 8 tackles (5 solo) 4.5 TFL, 3 sacks
