Gramblling Names Broderick Fobbs New Head Football Coach

B.FobbsAs previously rumored, Broderick Fobbs has officially been named the new head football coach at Grambling State.

Fobbs, 39, played running back for Grambling in the late 1990s under legendary head coach Eddie Robinson.  The Monroe, La. native is currently the tight ends coach at McNeese State and will assist in coaching the team’s NCAA playoff game this Saturday against Jacksonville State in Lake Charles, La.

“I’m elated for the opportunity. Grambling State University is a prestigious institution. It’s an opportunity I’ve always dreamed of at a place where I’ve always dreamed of being,” said Fobbs in a university press release. “I stand on the shoulders of a number of great men, and many of them coached and mentored me. They instilled in me the importance of GSU’s expectations, history and legacy and we’re going to do just what they expect and deserve.”

Fobbs replaces interim head coach Dennis “Dirt” Winston, who took over the program on Oct. 18.  Winston became the program’s third head coach in the same season; proceeded by George Ragsdale and Doug Williams.
