Morgan State has found a quarterback to lead their offense and have the record to show for it.
Maryland transfer Cameron Edge scored a two-yard touchdown with 36 seconds left to lift the Bears past Villanova 38-35 Saturday afternoon.
The win moves Morgan State to 4-1, matching their win total for the 2025 in this season’s first five weeks.
The Bears are also 4-1 for the first time since 2009.
Edge completed 31 of 40 passes for a whopping 444 yards and three touchdowns to go along with two rushing scores.
The Bears led 24-14 at halftime as Edge ran for a touchdown and threw scoring passes to Keith Jenkins Jr. and Malachi Bryant.
Villanova (2-4) stormed back to take a 35-31 lead in the 4th quarter on a 52-yard scoring run by Ja’Briel Mace.
Edge would have the final word, leading the Bears on a 6-play, 56-yard drive that took 1:15 to complete.
The critical play was a 38-yard strike from Edge to Justin Perry on 4th down to keep the drive alive. Two plays later, Edge snuck in for the go-ahead score.
Villanova had a chance to tie it, but Dominic LeBlanc’s 47-yard field goal attempt was wide right and the Bears celebrated their biggest win of the season to date.
