Grambling received more than $20 million from the state of Louisiana for the fiscal year 2027 budget, and some of that money will go towards the Tiger athletics program.
Some $6 million was earmarked for a brand-new indoor athletics facility on campus, adding on to $6.7 million previously given to the university.
The funding will continue construction of a training facility that Grambling athletes will be able to use year-round.
“The additional investment from the state of Louisiana represents meaningful support for our students and the future of Grambling State University,” Grambling president Martin LeMelle Jr. said in a statement. “Most importantly, it creates greater opportunities for our students to learn, lead, compete, and succeed. The investments strengthen our ability to expand academic excellence, modernize our campus, enhance the student experience, and prepare leaders who will make meaningful contributions throughout Louisiana and beyond.”
Grambling officially broke ground on the new training facility back in March.
