Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones is looking to beef up the Spartans’ nonconference schedule next season, and he’s willing to put real money on the table to do it.
Jones posted on X that he needs home games against Division I opponents, is open to starting a home-and-home series, and will pay up to $10,000 to get a team to Echols Hall first.
“Need some home games vs. Division I opponents next year,” the message read. “Will start a home and home series and give you up to $10k to start at my place !!!! Who’s willing to come to Echols ???? DIVISION I.”

Home-and-home agreements are common in college basketball, but it is rare for smaller programs to incentivize larger schools in such a direct fashion.
The proposed $10,000 guarantee could help offset travel costs, making the opportunity more attractive for mid-major programs looking to round out their nonconference schedules.
Now, the question remains: which Division I program will take the offer and make the trip to Norfolk?
