Norfolk State football is undergoing another schedule change.
The Spartans’ road game at FBS Virginia in Charlottesville has been moved from Saturday, Sept. 12, to Friday, Sept. 11, the school announced on Monday.
A kickoff time and television designation will be announced at a later date. A reason for the change was not disclosed.
The meeting will mark the first-ever matchup between Norfolk State and Virginia, giving the Spartans a new Power Four opponent to open their non-conference slate.

It will also represent Norfolk State’s second all-time game against an Atlantic Coast Conference program.
The Spartans are 0-1 against ACC competition, with their only previous appearance resulting in a 41-16 loss at Wake Forest in 2021.
It is also the second scheduled game date alteration of the 2026 slate. The Spartans were originally supposed to play North Carolina A&T on Oct. 17, but the contest was dropped in favor of a matchup with FCS newbie Chicago State that same day.
