Howard University standout Cedric Taylor III, a First Team All-MEAC selection, intends to enter the transfer portal

Taylor’s decision comes after a strong season in the MEAC, where the 6-foot-7 junior guard averaged 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game for the Bison. He was also named MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Taylor has always been an impact player
Before arriving at Howard, Taylor built his reputation at Morehouse, where he was named the SIAC Freshman of the Year in 2023-24 and later earned All-SIAC First Team honors in 2024-25.
During his final season at Morehouse, he averaged 15.6 points and 6.7 rebounds while starting 27 of 30 games, and he also earned SIAC All-Academic recognition.
Taylor’s impact at Morehouse made him one of the most productive players in HBCU basketball before his move to Howard. He followed that up with an even bigger role in the MEAC, becoming one of Howard’s most reliable all-around players and one of the top frontcourt guards in the conference.
What Cedric Taylor transfer means for Howard
At Howard, Taylor’s production included multiple standout performances, among them 23 points, five assists, and four rebounds at LeMoyne-Owen, 26 points and seven rebounds at Clark Atlanta, and a 29-point, 10-rebound double-double against Allen.
Howard now faces another offseason roster adjustment after Taylor’s unexpected departure following the loss of Bryce Harris and Ose Okojie to graduation.
